Bugs of WDW!

I am not opening that link!

Lucky me, I don´t recall seeing roaches while I lived in The Commnons.... but of course, we had the apartments sprayed every month.

I did see snakes, lots of frogs and spiders.... and one night, a racoon!!

It´s a lot of fun turning off the lights of your first floor apartment and listening to the distinctive sound of a darn frog in your bedroom at 1:30am! I ran out of my room looking for my neighbor -or whoever was around!- to find it... We had no luck, the frog was more clever... it remained quiet while he was there and would ribbit again when I was alone! Finally, it stopped (or I finally got used to it and fell asleep). I found it months later.... DRY under my bed! :hurl: I almost puked when I was looking for something else, moved the bed and grabbed it! :hurl:

Ugh...I saw that last night Aimee!

Dont they also call those things palmetto bugs? I remember in 1986 when I was staying in (at the time) Lake BuenaVista at the Viscount (Travel Lodge?). There was a rack of brochures in the hotel lobby. So one morning, I was over looking for some local information. As I reached for one brochure, I noticed a giant black ink blob on it. Suddenly, the ink blot moved. I swear that thing had to be at LEAST two inches long! Well, I let out a scream and took off across the lobby. There was an adorable bellhop working there who used to talk to me every morning (Naturally I cant remember his name, but he was tall, blonde and tan! :D ) He came running after me to see what was wrong. When I was a sufficient distance away from the offending insect, I stopped and demanded he "Kill it!! Kill it!! Kill it!!!" He looked puzzled for a minute and then laughed and said "Ooohh! Its only a palmetto bug! It wont hurt you!"

Let me tell you, after that, EVERY time I set foot in that lobby, I just RAN thru it!

More advanced, too. They're animatronic SPIES, I tell you. Gotta get big to house all that equipment.

One of the group commonly referred to as "Palmetto Bugs", the American roach is the largest (1-3/8" to 2-1/8") of the roaches infesting homes. It has reddish brown wings and is a good flyer. American roaches often invade from sewer systems and heavily mulched areas. The female attaches the egg capsule, containing 15-18 eggs, in high areas in garages, closets, utility rooms and fireplaces. Found nearly anywhere in the house, American roaches contaminate food, carry disease, damage book bindings, fabrics and wallpaper. Or, as you can see, Palmetto bugs are "your worse nightmare!"
