Brown Derby Cobb Salad

Is it at all possible to go to the Brown Derby and pay for just a Cobb salad to go? My dad is dying to eat there just for the salad and my sister doesn't want to waste 2 sit-down meal points on just a salad. So I'd figured I would go get him one and bring it to his room.

I don't see why not, but I think you are really going to loose the effect.

The cobb salad at the BD is unmixed and fresh. After you drag it though the parks in the take out countainer its going to loose a lot of its charm.

Why don't you all go for lunch, and pay cash. If you don't order appitizers and dessert, lunch is not that expensive. Or if your dad wants to, he could go for lunch alone and get the cobb salad and pay cash. In fact last time in was in WDW alone, I ate lunch at the BD alone and had a cobb salad. (I also had mussles and grapefruit cake, but I digress).

Is there some attraction you and your sister want to do, that your dad is not at all interested in? If so, why not make a plan. You two go wait in line while dad goes and munches out on a cobb salad, then you meet up afterwards.

If dad is a bit leery about eating alone, it's really no big deal, and whenever I do it (I do it a lot, especialy when I travel for business) I find that I get better, more attentive, service.

I agree. Go to the BD and pay cash for the meal. Just because you have the plan doesn't mean you are obligated to use it every time you eat.

Welllll....it's me, my boyfriend, my sister, her husband, her 3 kids (ages 6, 5 and 3) and then my mom and dad. We don't mind paying for anything, but we have planned something kid friendly like sci-fi or prime time for that day. But that's a good idea. Maybe me, my boyfriend and dad can just go sneak in there (I love them too!) when my sister is busy with something else.

Thats perfect. The thing to remember about large party vacations like that is your not all joined at the hip, and you all have different likes and dislikes.

You, your boyfriend, and dad go eat salads for lunch while the rest of the crew does somthing they wanted to, and you all meet up afterwards.

Then you get to brag about the great salad you had, and they get to complain that they spent their time on "Sounds Dangerous" :)

Yep! We did this when I traveled with a BIL and his family (9 of us in all). Most of the time we stayed together, but we did split up to do things our owns kids wanted to do (their kids were younger). :king:

Maybe not at lunch time. I ate lunch there last October. The first one they brought me was about 2/3 frozen. Not lying. I went specifically to have the Cobb, and had told the waiter that when I ordered. He was not very happy (with the kitchen staff), I could tell.

They brought me, of course, a replacement, which was very good. I also got "checked on" by about every manager in the place over the course of my meal.

I was travelling solo and writing in my planner. They probably thought I was a reviewer or a critic.
