When you book a hotel on the official website, do you pay first night deposit (like the US resorts), or do you pay in full for the length of your stay?

When you book a hotel on the official website, do you pay first night deposit (like the US resorts), or do you pay in full for the length of your stay?

I'm pretty sure it's just one night deposit.

I did it just last month and expected to pay in full, but they only took the first night deposit. Rest when I arrive at the hotel. Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise
