Weren't they suppose to have a Living character version of Lumiere out or have they scrapped the idea depending on how crowded and busy the place has become??

I think the Lumiere in the restaurant got scrapped very early in the process.

You are correct that he was in the original concept art, but look at the windows in the concept art...there is stained glass in there with the characters on it and that was not built either.

I think there were a lot of changes that happened between this drawing and the final result.

I also think that this drawing might have been made before the Enchanted Tales was conceived. It looks like the Lumiere was moved over there.

Honestly, I really wish they had put Cogsworth in the Enchanted Tales. He liked to talk more than Lumiere and he would have looked great on the mantle in the library.

If Cogsworth was in the Enchanted Tales then Lumiere could have been used in the restaurant and they could have had two characters.

One problem is that the way that the Lumiere AA was implemented in Enchanted Tales it cannot operate the same way on a wheel-around cart. It needs to be in one place with a wall/curtain behind it because he cannot cupport his arms on his own.

Theoretically a Cogsworth AA could be a bit more self-contained.

From my dinner dining experience there it appears that they are focusing on a Fine Dining Experience with an optional Character Experience. The Music Plays, The beast walks arcorss the floor and greats the dining guests then adjourns to a seperate room for optional meet and greet with picturs (No autographs). I think the Luminere concept was scrapped when they took the Fine Dining Direction for the resteraunt.

The way Lumiere works in his present place, his base moves like the movie and his arms have fluid motion, couldn't work as a stand alone AA like Remy. My wife and I had dinner there the other night, and personally I don't think I missed him.

If you are referring to Lumière at Enchanted Tales with Belle, his arms have supports behind them which are camouflaged to match the drapery.
