Dividends are what most stockholders want... Returning profits to the SHers. Better than endlessly artificially boosting the stock.

I prefer the company invest excess cash into the company for organic growth and if I want cash flows as an investor I can sell some shares to create what is called homemade dividends. Dividends say to me that the company didn't have any better alternative for that money.

Apparently entertainment seems to be constantly cut to pay for more meet and greets. Ask @asianway , he knows more about it.

IDK. I'm not sure if it was on the agenda. Although all WDW infrastructure needs expanding if they're going to Continue growing at this rate, 27% percent overall over 10 years. (64% growth in the past 22 years)

So as some have suggested or alluded to, is there a possibility that more money may have been appropriated besides the cost of the DHS redo? Perhaps maybe they are discussing the 50th, and they are allocating some money to all of the parks... I'm sure DHS was not the only thing on their agenda. How do we get our hands on that agenda!?!?

With our luck we get another financial Armageddon and they simply close the place down.

The market feels extremely "toppy" right now. Too many people sitting in cash waiting for doomsday. Including me.

Pretty much the same here - took my 'profits' while they still existed.

In the past before the 80's and the conversion of Wall St to a Casino, Dividends were paid by most companies as the primary benefit of owning stock was the share of profits paid to the OWNERS of the companies ie the SHAREHOLDERS,

Not like today's model where the profits are paid to the executives and people make paper profits as the stock prices go up and down.

Buybacks are not 'organic growth' - and you don't want the company growing in an unsustainable manner or overextending itself. You don't want "well we had a great quarter, so lets jump into some new random market!"

He was walking to be SEEN. And Tweeted.

This is a time when Disney thinks (rightly, I guess) it can use the interest this thread spreads around the fan community to focus people on a positive.

They may not be willing to tell you where those billions will be spent, but they want you to know that (maybe just in this one tiny 'wittle case) the Spirit knows what he's talking about, so (while he'll never be right again and he's evil and you should hate him) this time you should listen to him because it suits our agenda as well.

Wait, if you're evil and we're following you. Does that make us Minions?

I wouldn't expect any major leaks before d23. What's interesting tho, and again I can't speak for others sources, but over the last two days or so certain topics have been met with complete unresponsiveness when asked about leading me to believe a much newer and specific NDA has been handed out (something I will never ask anyone to break)

I'd like this ten times if I could.

I had a friend suggest this in a conversation a few days ago, that work was starting but with everyone under a tight NDA.

I would imagine everyone at WDI is under a tight NDA. To break that would be career ending. One of the imagineers last year stated that they were working on the Star Wars IP. Since they approved the budget I figure it's all green for work to start. They may start doing things before an official announcement.

I think the idea that guests won't respond well to having two similar system rides in one resort has been well and truly squashed by Universal doing so well with Transformers, which is pretty much just Spider-Man with a different movie.
And Disney of course. Let's count the Omnimovers:
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Spaceship Earth
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  • Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
  • Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

Maybe they learned a lesson on past screw ups announcing things to early... Maybe this time they start construction and don't announce anything until it is 18-24 months away from opening. In the meantime they may just give us scraps of what is coming to keep people interested but the big news in waves.

I can see D23 being all about current projects with shovels in the ground. Then a teaser that it is coming but no real details... Maybe a reveal of the new park name but not full models etc.
