So has anyone found a new source to buy WDW blueprints? I know one website that used to sell them, but they've been taken over by cybersquatters. Bidding on Ebay starts at one firstborn child and goes up from there. Any other sources? Specifically seeking HM and PotC.

the only ones ive found were on ebay........... and i did the "buy it now" option so i didnt get into a bidding war. i remember PoTC but not sure about HM.

It looks like there is a new seller for blueprints in general in e-bay. Chances are he has a vellum original or more than likely a sepia copy that he can run copies of on a standard blue print machine. He is listing them one at a time to make them look like they are rare and or more valuable. This is kind of a common practice on e-bay to drive up the price of an item (i.e. HM plans over $100) Sooner or later he will probably learn that he can list multiple items under one heading with a buy it now option a sell a ton more. I’ll bet if you check back on e-bay in a day or so you will find the same item by the same seller with a much lower price.

EDIT: I have seen the front elevation of the castle at MK available at Art of Disney. It is a poster though and not an actual blue print.

Yup. As the auction ended I got a "second chance" email where I could hit "Buy It Now" and get the $100 plans for $20.
:rolleyes:
I really feel sorry for whoever paid $100 and then finds out some other schmo got them for one-fifth of that.

I think i may have found a second source and will probably buy it there out of spite.
:goodnevil

If it works out, I'll pass it along. Thanks for the replies!

Yea, I would be pretty mad too... If I had just blown $100 dollars, and then I found out I Could have had it for $20, I wouldn't be a happy camper.

From a certain point of view what this guy is doing it really smart, a little underhanded, but smart. Just think about it 10 people bid on an item it sells for $100 then he lets the other bidders that did not win buy the same item for 1/5 the price. It is a classic “get rich quick on e-bay” tactic. More experienced e-bay users recognize this and shy away from it. However it works quite well because 90% of the people buying on e-bay are not experienced.

`Con artist` springs to mind..
Con artist would be a little harsh. Shady business man would be a little more correct. I ran into a real con artist my first go around on e-bay. This guy was selling items that he did not even have. Fortunately I charged the item to a credit card and was able to get my money back that way.

shady is right. be careful!!!

He was a new seller so chances are it is the same guy. I very rarely buy from anyone with less than 100 feedbacks and as learned from past experience after 24 days I file fraud report with e-bay and paypal.

Shadetree2006 or something like that. I ended up winning one of the auctions with the opening bid only ($15) -- didn't have to get in a bidding dogfight. Also, I found some over on yahoo auctions that were simply "buy it now" style auctions ($15). I think these both may be the same guy, as they're listed in the same city and the descriptions are similar.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt -- I have ways of defending myself should I get ripped off (just ask a certain Disney-related shopping service who took my money and never delivered).:zipit:

Here was the email I sent that finally got results. The names have been changed to protect the guilty...

====

I am writing in a final attempt to resolve the situation involving order number xxxx at xxxxxxxxxxx.com, placed on November xx, 20xx. As I have communicated in previous emails and other forms of online correspondence, the item has still not shipped, and my credit card has already been charged. Per your email of December xx, 20xx, you stated to expect shipment within 2-6 business days. Since that email, ten business days have passed, not to mention 32 days since the order itself was placed (and, according to my bank records, approximately 30 days since my credit card was charged for the purchase). I have tried to be very patient with the order process and your claim of heavy holiday demand, but I am growing more and more weary of this process. I am also beginning to see more and more complaints about your company online, and have now noticed that the Better Business Bureau has downgraded xxxxxxxxxxx.com to an unsatisfactory rating. I see very little recourse in getting my situation resolved in a satisfactory manner. I am further disheartened by the fact that the company has been practically impossible to contact -- the phone number has been listed as disconnected, and it took several hours of online research to find a working email address. Several attempts to contact the company have gone unanswered. Thus, we are at a major turning point in this transaction.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response from the company by 12:00 PM (noon) Eastern Time, Wednesday December xx, 20xx, I will be forced to pursue all legal options available to me. A satisfactory response will be determined as a response proving that the item has shipped (and, as mentioned in an as-yet-unanswered email to you on December xx, shipped via overnight delivery at no additional cost to me). I expect a tracking number through one of the major delivery carriers. Failure to ship the item and provide such proof will result in...

A) A dispute of the charge via my credit card company.

B) A complaint through the Better Business Bureau .

C) Any other legal remedies available to me, including litigation measures on my behalf, for apparent credit card fraud (IE, charging a customer for an item that the business apparently has no intention of shipping -- and charging a customer for an item that has not yet been shipped, despite a written policy stating that charges will not be made until item ships).

D) Notification of [ bank ] and Visa regarding apparent credit card fraud involving their payment instruments.

E) Notification of several 'partner sites' of xxxxxxxxx.com (which accept advertising from your company) to advise them of your business practices and current Better Business Bureau rating.

Please note that the only way to prevent these options from being exercised in their entirety will be to fully meet the terms described above. I will, in all likelihood, still exercise options (B), (E), and possibly (D) above, if the order is merely cancelled with a credit to my charge account.

Please respond immediately to this request.

===============

The response -- in about one hour -- was a complete refund of my charge card, a $25 gift certificate (which I have yet to -- and may never -- use), and a promise to ship my order anyway (never happened).

Just glad I got my money back. Found the book I had ordered at another site for $25 less and got it with no problems at all.
