Biggest Disney Pet Peeve

My pet peeves boil down to a lack of consideration from other guests. For example: flash photography on dark rides! It completely throws me out of the experience, and it's just so visually jarring.

But one of the biggest ones for me is people stopping in the middle of the row in various shows. The CM will tell everyone to "move all the way down" and they just ignore the instructions and everyone has to climb over them. It's inconsiderate and essentially saying that they don't care about anyone else's experiences but their own, that they deserve the best seats, even though it should mostly just come down to luck.

I have so many others, but those are the two things that really raise my blood pressure. (The cutting in front for parades/fireworks used to be a big one, but I've avoided that frustration by not queuing up anymore. I accept a worse view in exchange for not getting angry/defensive over the spot I waited an hour for and then a huge family tries to push me out of the way. It just makes me happier to not have to deal with that confrontation.)

I'm trying to teach y kids to think of other people nd be mindful and respectful of them... You would not be surprised how many other people are not teaching this to their children.

DW=Dear Wife DH-Dear Husband DD-Dear Daughter DS-Dear Son.
DBF-Dear Boyfriend DGF-Dear Girlfriend and so on..

Actually, I just got told on another forum that I was definitely wrong to say "dear wife, etc". It is most definitely (according to them) Disney Wife. haha, just goes to show you that it's crazy, and you can use whatever you want to fill in the blanks. They made me feel like I was dumb to call it "dear...". oh well..........

My pet peeve is when people get up in a show and walk in front of your seat, and don't say anything. at. all.???
They inconvenience you by stepping on your feet, butt in your face, and just charge on?
This has happened so much I wonder where manners went to? I wish they would at least say, "excuse me". I know everyone has to get up once in a while, I get it, but wish there was an "excuse me" instead of just charging through! This happens at the movies too.
Another is the line cutters. For example, when 7dmt first opened, we got into the standby line (no fp available), with a wait time of 60 minutes. It was quite long, but we wanted to ride it. When we finally got to where you enter the covered area, a woman just walked up and got in front of me. I was surprised at her gall. I told her that the line was way back there, and she just looked at me, laughed, and ignored me. Couldn't believe it. Another time, we were walking through the queue in TSM, 3rd people in line, really moving along, when 4 people jumped the ropes and walked in front of me. Are you kidding? They would only have been 2 people back from us! So, big mouth that I am, I said loudly, "what are you doing? the line isn't long at all for you to jump in front of us?". The man turned and said, " we couldn't ride yesterday because it broke down, so they owe us to skip the lines". What???? Are you kidding me? There was NO wait at all. Crazy!

That was a HUGE problem at Toy Story when they still did paper fast passes. What people were doing was getting up early and going to feed the fast pass machine to get passes for when their family got there. So finally Disney got smart to what they were doing and changed the policy that in order for you go get the passes your whole family had to have scanned in to the park. I bet those kids were trying to get passes for people that had no true intention of ever riding the ride and they were gonna keep using the passes themselves. Yeah. That's messed up and I would have been mad too. I'm not a confrontational guy though so I probably wouldn't have said anything myself but I don't blame you a bit for getting on to them. I bet if you had told a CM though they would have just given you a special pass.
This is the main reason I don't understand the complaints about FP+. I think it's far superior to the old system.

Here is another pet peeve- I can't believe I forgot it. Its people who use their cell phones during a show. It happens at places like the Carousel of Progress, Hall of the Presidents, Muppet vision, Laugh Floor, Philharmagic. When I politely ask them to turn it off or take it outside they become belligerent. It happens at the local movie theater as well, but I don't pay $100 a day to go to the movies. Why aren't CM there to tell people to turn off their phones? It has to be my job and I resent it.

It is so much better than the old system, no more running across the park to try and get a fastpass then having to go all the way back at fastpass time, and now being able to use your phone for the fourth and so on fast passes much easier.

Anyone who thinks they are entitled are my biggest pet peeves. All this has been said before but like when people cut lines, run right up to the bus and take seats of people who waited, dont listen to the cast members and think they can do their own thing, teenagers who try and show off to each other are kind of obnoxious. etc.

The last time I was at EPCOT (about 5-6 years ago), I ran into a situation that ticked me off at the time, but now I wonder if perhaps I overreacted. I would really like to hear others opinions about this.

Here's the breakdown: I was rushing over to the Test Track fast pass dispensary to try to get a FP before they ran out. It was a crowded day and the lines behind the FP machines were easily 15 people deep. I got in line and waited my turn to get FP's for my family of four. As time passed and the line progressed, I could see the FP return times getting later and later in the day indicating that they were going to run out fairly soon, but since there was only a group of 3 Indian teenagers ahead of me in the line I wasn't worried about my chances of getting a FP.

Now, The teenagers weren't misbehaving or being rude in any way, but they were taking in inordinately long time to get their FPs. Time ticked away and people in the lines to each side of me were advancing and getting FPs, but my line was stopped behind these boys. Keep in mind that I couldn't just barge into another line as the people to each side of me had been fairly waiting in line just like I had. I'm starting to get agitated and so are the people directly behind me, and we are all wondering what the hell these boys are doing. I started peering over their shoulders watching them, and it dawned on me what they were doing. These boys were party of an extended Indian tour group of at least 50 people that were waiting off to the side. They had everyone's paper single-day passes, and were slowly feeding the 50 or so tickets one at a time into the machine. Between the false starts and the slow machines, each FP they got took anywhere from 30-60 seconds, which ultimately was why we were all stuck behind them.

The boys were about halfway through the stack of tickets when I griped at them for holding up the line for their entire group. One of them piped up about they had paid for their tickets and they had a right to get FPs, to which I stated so did the people behind them who had also paid just like everybody else. One of the other boys suggested it was better if they just get out of line, so they all went back to their group, but in the end it was too late as the FP machines ran out of passes at that point.

In the end my griping at them was pointless, but at the time I felt like I had to say something. So, in your opinion was I out-of-line for griping at them, or did I have a reasonable complaint?

Or was this whole story way too dang long to read?

I would have been upset as well... however the situation could have been prevented if Disney implemented one line that fed into the multiple Fast Pass dispensers, instead of having a line for each dispenser. Like at a bank, or when going through customs at the airport. Before the FP+ was accessible through the mobile site (at least at the Mickey's Philharmagic and Tomorrowland kiosk locations - may be different at others), I couldn't stand having to guess which kiosk line would move the quickest... they should have had one line that advanced when a kiosk opened up. Now that issue seems to have gone away with the implementation of mobile FP+ selections.

I think most of the complaints all stemmed from the sort of clunky and vague rollout of the new system. They've since modified it and made it much better than it originally was. The thing that's kinda irritating about it now is the fact that you actually have to get the rides you want to sorta "line up" with each other from a time standpoint. I think it was a little more convenient when it would just give you a block of time for all 3. Now it's like you make a Space Mtn for 9:30 but then if you want a Peter Pan and it's available at 10:25 it won't let you make it because of how it overlaps. I wish you could have a choice of which "system" of making fast passes you could use. I guess the theory is that people might feel it's more flexible to just make one at a time. Really though if you get acquainted with your front desk CM at your resort they will give you the major hookup on fast passes. We've had 8 Toy Story ones at a time from some CM's at BLT that are really cool and love my vast collection of Ducktales shirts. LOL! We got to ride it 11 times that day!

We were there when the Mine Train done a "soft open" one day and basically CM's just announced to the people walking by in the immediate area that if they wanted to ride it right then that they could. Well it became a mob and they had to shut it down. A CM told me the next day that people were literally knocking CM's down and WALKING ON THEM to get in line!!! So a couple of days later on the Rock Your Disney day they done a more coordinated soft opening and we rode it then. When that CM told me that I just could not believe that people would act in such a way. We always go a few times a year and I understand there are a great number of people that might never make it back after their first trip but to act like that is just beyond anything. I wouldn't have cared if they had walked out in cuffs.

Also the parades and castle shows, I can't stand people who show up last minute and want to make there way to the front after you have sat there for 30+ min waiting on a good spot, you show up late stand in the back!!
As a previous CM that worked on the parade route, this one constantly baffled me. People would come up to me in the middle of the parade, wanting me to find them viewing for their children, then proceed to get mad at me as I told them there's nothing I can do when they show up 10 minutes into the show, expecting to get front row viewing.

I'm shocked that nobody has said my pet peeve yet. When people wait until they are about to step onto the bus to fold up their children's strollers. How come you didn't fold up the stroller when you saw the bus pull up? Now instead of stepping right onto the bus, you have to stop right in front of the door and try to fold it and waste time for you and everyone behind you in line. Most of the time the person doing this also doesn't know how to fold up the stroller so it takes them even longer.
It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who try to get in the handicap line at the bus with their stroller that think they can just leave the kid in it and wheel them on. I once saw a man at WL have a complete melt down, he got behind us in the handicap line with their suv sized double stroller, the man asked if this was the stroller line , I advised him no, it's for wheelcahirs and scooters, you will need to get in the regular line and fold it up. he ignored me and when the bus driver came to load my Dad and told him again regular line, fold stroller, he yanked his kids out of the stroller tried to fold it up and when it did not fold , he yanks the whole stroller up and hurls it into the grassy/shurbry area behind the bus stop, his kids were crying , his wife was livid it was comical and scary at the same time.

Had that been me I would have stepped back in front of her and dared her to try it again. I have ZERO tolerance for that garbage.
