meh... comparing different things in a discussion of 'is it equal' just muddies the water

The guy at the front of the train experiences the ride differently than the guy at the back - every ride cycle. And not because the guy at the front goes faster - but because their position is different hence their ride profile is different.

I mean, yes, it's correct that that if you compare two different points in time, you get different absolute references - but you're also comparing different things. Just confuses things.

You are the only one confused on what was being referenced. It wasnt muddied for anyone else.

Just rode it, did not watch any POVs beforehand. Definitely smoother, much appreciated that the lift hill anti-rollbacks are no longer ear piercing loud (though there is now loud audio on the first and third lift.)

The double helix felt faster to me, the rest felt about the same speed. I actually didn't mind the slight roughness it had though and it feels less out of control now that its super smooth.

The updated lift scenes and audio are nice, however I think the third lift could have used some sort of physical animation, it's all just sound and lighting changes.

Overall it is an improvement and I'm glad it's back.

Question since I didn't follow this too closely - are the turns banked more than before? The train seemed to take them slightly faster than before, but with less lateral forces.

That was probably it. My wife mentioned she thought it was painted, and like a typical dufus I was like no they're new. She said ok whatever you say. 🤣
I actually agree with your wife. I saw chipping paint and bolts that in no way were new. I feel like the train cars are refurbished but not new.

I finally got to ride yesterday! (I had arrived on opening day right after the fire aftermath.) I have to admit, I was really worried that I would feel like it wasn't the same ride anymore due to the smoother ride experience people have been discussing. However, I found it was just as enjoyable as in the past; I didn't notice any drastic change in the turns. I definitely missed the opossums for sure, but it was great to see the other critters and new effects. The 3rd lift felt a little cheesy with the big chunk of gold above us, but I was so happy to be back on the ride that I didn't care. The queue kept the interest of the kiddos in line in front of me; they really enjoyed all the activities and often delayed the line from progressing because they were having so much fun. I am so glad my favorite ride is back in action! 🤠

I think we all thoroughly enjoyed today's lecture in Disney Physics 101, "BTM: The Correlation Between Gravity & Momentum & Coaster Speeds". Tomorrow's lecture: "The Relationship Between The Vector Mechanics Of Stress & Strain & The EE Yeti."

This of course, will be before Mr. Raineman's class on "How to make a snarky, post, but late!"
I wasn't really meaning to be snarky, tbh, just a cheeky statement-it was informative and proved to me how much I have forgotten about high school/university physics. But yeah, it was late-I haven't been on here in a while and the rest of this thread took a while to read.

I just wanted to continue the humor because it reminded me of when Leslie Nielson wluod host NYUK on AMC with fake lectures about 3 stooges shorts.

That would be interesting because they removed the entire branch they were attached to. I had assumed that was a permanent thing. But now that I look at it side by side, the branch was probably detachable. So maybe they just didn't have the prop ready in time for opening. If the slot is still there and visible, then she's probably right (her information is usually solid).

I was a bit disappointed riding the refreshed version for the first time this week. There's a lot of great improvements, but the very smooth track does feel less thrilling even if the speed is reportedly the same or marginally faster. The other issue is the front couple rows completely miss some ride elements. Some timing tweaks could help that.
