Wow. That is an interesting pitch they have. Id love to try one... but I dont have $50 to throw away or should I say, invest.

It would be neat if it did work well. Ill wait to see if one of the running shiops locally carries them and maybe next spring ill have to check them out.

Thanks for the link Steve. You run?

Maybe I'm just getting old (actually there's no "maybe" about that specific statement:lookaroun), but I'm reluctant to try such technologies.

I'd think that I'd adjust my routine before resorting to technology like that.

. . . of course I try to stay away from any sort of fancy clothing, training routines etc. that are likely to greatly improve my performance . . . because then I wouldn't have any excuse for how slow I'd still be.:o

One comment I should make is that I remember as a kid how amazed I was regarding how dramatically I could cool my whole body by just dipping my feet in the cool river.

It does seem that if you cool an extremity it does help to cool your entire body.

I would love to know if this actually worked. One thing I hate about running on the treadmill at the gym is how hot and stuffy the air is and how much that effects my endurance. This might be something to add to my Christmas list...

Are you coming in January?

I promise not to stalk you if you say yes.:lookaroun

. . . though I can't speak for others, so I understand if you don't want to comment.:lookaroun

I think we need to start with a 5K or less! LOL

Every journey begins with a single step. I remember running my very first mile, and then my very first 5K race. Both were huge accomplishments and sources of pride for me. And then, a long time later, I ran my first marathon. Watch out - running is addictive! :)

I received a google alert re: a BEX Runner thread and had to check it out for myself... this is the first one I've seen. My name is Brett Warner and I am the inventor of the BEX Runner and founder of Cool Palms LLC in Austin. I don't want to intercede too much on the conversation, but just want to let you all know that the reason no one has heard of us yet, is because we are that new. We launched in March at the USA Fit national organizers meeting - www.youtube.com/bexrunner. We have been reviewed by the Wall Street Journal and are currently being featured in a 3 minute segment on NBC News Health - http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/h..._And_Your_Exercise_Regimen_Washington_DC.html.
We have been focused on patents and efficacy testing and are now turning our attention to sales, retail and distribution.

My wife and I are new marathoners and will be looking forward to WDW marathon 2011 and hope to have a booth set up.

The conversation about cooling the palms to cool the core is legit. The $3,000 medical grade unit corecontrol was just reviewed by a university to show the impact on weight-lifters.... yes weight lifters.

If you want to try BEX Runner - I would love to support your training. BEX Runner is currently available at www.BEXrunner.com and will soon be in running retail stores across the country. My guess is that it will be cheaper to buy them at retailers, when and if they pick up our product. Regardless, we accept all returns. So if you are curious, intrigued, or already a believer - try it out... post your reviews (good, bad, other)... and return it if you dont' like it. I've had 2 returns in the last 100 orders - and both were because the individual is waiting for the next version that will be specifically for marathoners and last 4-5 hours. The current version lasts about an hour and then the advice is to wet the fabric at water stops to keep a cool surface to your palm. Doesn't have to be cold... just cooler than the outside air.

This is a fun product that actually works.

Keep posting, email - brettwwarner@coolpalmsllc.com, call, or other if you want any specifics on the product. Good luck with your training.

It seems like a good idea on paper, but I think it would be a problem in execution.

So I freeze this thing, and it lasts an hour. It takes that long before the gun goes off, at least. At WDW, you can be 2 -3 hours from the time you leave the room to the time your corral goes off.

I know the idea is sound. I have been sticking my hands in a sink of ice water for a long while now, not just when running but when hot from other activity. Sticking your legs in ice water after running is good too, but that requires a special set up (or a cold pool :) ). It would be nice if it stayed really cold for a long time, maybe after you activate it.

I may try it, but not for $50. If it comes down a bit I would do it.

I think this would be the only solution for a an extended wait like WDW. Then again, if temperatures were what people reported last year, I think the thing would stay cool on it own... or even the runner. :D

I hate to be one of the people that cant afford to try new stuff until I get to demo a version of the product, but I am. I just cant take a chance with 50 bones.

Welcome Brett to our little community here at wdwmagic. This sub community (running section) is only a few months strong but we have had really great turn out.
