As much as I know about WDW, I realized I don't know near as much as I would like to about Walt himself. So, I was wondering, of all the biographies out there, which one do you guys think is the best? Which gives you a complete feel of who Walt was?

I just borrowed a DVD from my library "The Man Behind the Myth." I believe this is a book as well. It had many people on it who had known him and worked for him including his daughter. It was a personal look into his life with many home videos.

I enjoyed it.

The DVD of the Man Behind the Myth makes me cry everytime I watch. It has some really awesome footage of some Disney's greatest imaginners and Diane Disney Miller even talks on it. I have the book also and that basically just contains all the quotes and testimonals from people in the movie.

I would also second the recommendation for "An American Orginal" I got the Bob Thomas Bio when on vacation in Disney. I had it finished by the time we drove from Floridia to South Carolina on our way home. I think its the best all around biography I have ever read.

Another awesome book not so much about Disney life but talks about WDW being built is Married by the Mouse. Theres alot of political and govermental talk in it regarding the planning of WDW, but I found some really interesting info.

I was trying to find the new edition of "The Walt Disney Story" by Diane Disney Miller, b/c the orginal edition is out of print. And I know she was signing new copies around DL B'day last year. I've been dieing to read that one but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

But if I had to pick one from the above it would definetly be the DVD. I even believe parts of it were filmed by his grandson, Walter Elias Disney Miller. And it really shows how much people loved him.

Oh and I believe this one is out of print, but see if you can find a copy of Annette Funicello's Biography "A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes". Although it covers her whole life, the parts where she talks about Disney (which happens from MMC days to her wedding, the birth of her children, and up to Disney's Death), really shows how much he meant to her and how it was for a kid to look up to Uncle Walt.

Sorry if I rambled to much. I work in a bookstore and am a huge reader, so I tend buy any disney book I can get my hands on.

Hope this was helpful. : )

Not sure if this is the one you are looking for or not. http://product.half.ebay.com/The-Man-Behind-the-Magic_W0QQtgZinfoQQprZ994108

I have a copy of the Walt Disney Story but have never read it, I really should. My wife gave it to me about 14 or 15 years ago I am guessing.
