Avengers Endgame Spoiler Discussion

Besides Kat Dennings, I never got why so many people strongly disliked Thor 2. It's not in my top 10 MCU movies, but I didn't hate it.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen it in years and only remember general things about it.
Quite frankly, it’s irrelevant, and it’s clearly a film made by committee. Alan Taylor, The Director, clearly never had the power to make his own film.

Additionally, don’t get me wrong. That may be a decent thing, because his last film was Terminator Genysis, and that’s damn near unwatchable.

This seems pretty simple to me:

Rogers lived his life serving his causes....the battle was won...by the rules they established nothing would change except his reality...so he lived the life he wanted and died an old man. But he told his best friends first.

I don’t think it’s that complicated or in need of scorn or “disappointment”.

I think they did service to both he and Ironman. The “brains” and the “heart” of the team filled their roles and went out on their terms.

I thought it was poetic...maybe I’m getting sappy?

My least favorite Thor movie was ragnarok...not because I didn’t like the story...the rock backed, posing for the camera stuff was not necessary and speaks to a fan base that doesn’t need to be flattered. But that’s just me.

There were very few of the marvel movies I didn’t think were good.

Winter soldier is still the best...avengers was good at the time - but I think it’s now kinda amateurish after all that followed.

But we’re splitting hairs here...there really weren’t any bad movies. Except Iron man 2 was pretty bad...and age of ultron was weird. Hard to argue with much though still.

I will never understand people who think Ragnarok isn’t the best film in the series. It’s so clearly creatively superior to that series.

Ok just got back from my second viewing...

First was late on Thursday night so it was mostly geeks. Tonight was gen pop and they were way louder and jumping at major scenes.

Somethings felt more resolved to me this time... some more questions tho...

When nebula becomes aware thanos knows.. and is about to be captured... why doesn’t she just jump with the bracelet like she was going to prior? Instead she gets boarded and captured before she can jump??

Why doesn’t Clint use his radio when he’s in the ruins and finding the gauntlet? He uses it later in the same fight...

Why doesn’t nebula use her radio once freed to tell the others about past nebula?

How does tony know about 1970s base and time? I haven’t figured that one out yet

When thanos time jumps... the portal display actually shows nebula opening a portal from 2014 when you look close... so somehow she opens a remote portal in the past ... which we had not seen prior (and how she jumps with the team... she must have used the bracelet and pim juice... not left it).

Bruce banner gets all screwed up just wielding the gauntlet... iron man doesn’t get screwed up until he snaps.

I will theorize tony could get the stones from thanos quickly and stealthily since the glove was Tony’s design... and maybe he has some trick there. But I still think he having a gauntlet feature in his suit like that is kinda a shortcut

And the biggest “I don’t get”... is why do Hawkeye and black widow jump to the planet with nebula and Sam... then fly from there to the other planet? Why not just jump right to where you were going like everyone else did? Note people jumped to places they physically had not been to before... so that can’t be it.

The damage to Hulk from wearing the Gauntlet is on his arm. Tony’s arm is completely covered by the suit so if any damage is happening in that moment we wouldn’t see it.

Why Nebula doesn’t just jump is because she thought first that she had to warn Clint and Nat that Thanos knows rather than just leave them.

The reason Tony knows about the base is extremely obvious and I’ll answer your question with another question: who did he meet at said base?

Memory may not be perfect already, but I think I remember that Tony IS affected once the stones snap into place. When it goes from the stones just being held by the suit to being in infinity gauntlet formation, you do see those colored veins of power; I think I specifically remember some coming up his neck before he snaps. Why is the Hulk almost immobilized by the power of just wearing the gauntlet, while Tony handles it reasonably well? Maybe the suit absorbs a lot of the energy.

So this could be fun. In reality, I could reorder my top 10 or 11 depending on the day of the week, and the only ones I really don't ever watch and won't really ever watch again are my bottom 2-3.

1) Avengers Infinity Wars
2) Avengers End Game
3) Thor Ragnarok
4) Captain America: Winter Soldier
5) The Avengers
6) Iron Man
7) Doctor Strange
8) Captain America: First Avenger
9) Captain Marvel
10) Spiderman Homecoming
11) Captain America: Civil War
12) Ant Man
13) Thor Dark World
14) Iron Man 3
15) Ant Man and the Wasp
16) Avengers: Age of Ultron
17) Thor
18) Iron Man 2
19) Black Panther
20) Guardians of the Galaxy
21) Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Never saw:
22) Hulk

Except both hulk and Thanos (both being far greater than the simple human stark) show great effort and strain when the gauntlet is first wielded. Iron Man shows zero strain when the stones mount.

Why Nebula doesn’t just jump is because she thought first that she had to warn Clint and Nat that Thanos knows rather than just leave them.

Which she already tried. I mean... how do you get captured when you can quantum jump in a second or two? The whole Clint/Nat tied to Nebula seems forced too... vs them just jumping directly to the planet where the soul stone was.

Please tell me you're eluding to something better than "his dad told him about the place"
The story of the tesseract as what it was.. or even generally acknowledging it was not common knowledge when Howard Stark was killed. What knowledge of Pym did Stark share with his basically minor kid? Tony Stark seems to have limited (none?) knowledge of Pym and Ant-man tech prior to Scott Lang.

I can only imagine his suit took most of the force when he put on the gauntlet.

We've seen these 'suit absorb energy' thing in the films.. and the suit overloading from it. At this point, they are purely in 'tony is the hero mode' so they aren't going to take him down a notch at all.. but was another shortcut IMO

lol. that could be ...so, ok. nothing wrong with shortcuts, its all good. I don't think that scene was much about specifics anyway, that wasn't the point. Whether he strained or not and why didn't matter, he was going to finally correct everything.
