This kind of reminds me of when Mel Brooks made Space Balls so long after the first three Star Wars movies - people were kind of over Star Wars by then so the jokes fell a bit flat.

Avatar was an ok movie several years ago. We've moved on... They might make a good "land" of it, but it's weird to pick a movie that's barely a blip on most peoples' radar at this point.

I cannot foresee society ever getting over Star Wars. It is as timeless as the living Force itself.

I commented the other day, on Spirits latest mess of a thread (part 4!) that it's refreshing to see everyone so excited to talk about the latest thing announced for one of Disney's parks.... in the midst of a Star Wars discussion. The only time someone talks about Avatar is when discussing AK. People talk about SW all the time.

Sidenote, Google search for avatar na'vi and a quick scroll down= hilarity.

And a good majority of those comments are people hoping & praying the Avatar project falls flat so that something else can come to DAK rather than it. I haven't read too many comments of people hoping Star Wars land at DHS falls flat... and it hasn't even been announced yet. This speaks volumes.

Sad but absolutely true. Put me in the "please don't happen" category. I don't like the idea of a non-Disney land in a Disney park.... and if that's gonna happen, Avatar? Really? C'mon man.

It's amazing that Disney now owns several epic properties and they're doing **nothing** with them. Marvel, Star Wars. You could even argue for the Muppets as well. I get why there's no Marvel in WDW, but what's stopping them from doing something- anything- with them at all?

I hope D23 gives us some hope for the parks.

I agree, but in 1987 when Space Balls came out, the whole raft of Star Wars copycat movies had pretty much run its course, we'd already seen the Star Wars Holiday Special on TV (what more parody of Star Wars could one want?), and people were kind of burned out.

Also, I don't consider the three prequels to be Star Wars movies. :D

I don't care at all about Star Wars. I was over it before it even became a huge thing in the 70s. Nearly 40 years later, I still don't care. But I don't hope it fails. I don't even think it is a bad fit at DHS.

I honestly don't have much opinion on a Star Wars land, but if they build it, I hope it works put well for them!!

I do NOT want Avatarland in the AK. But if they are hell-bent on going forward with it, I hope that works out. I don't think it will! But I hope it does.

funny thread title. . . funny username. Okay, I will pander a bit: "I'm going to throw a Star Wars view-a-thon and continue sending Jedi Mind Tricks in the direction of California to encourage a change of funding from "Pandora" (that's 'Avatarland' to the uninitiated) to "Star Wars Land" at "Star Wars Studios Park," formerly known as Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly known as the Disney-MGM Studios Park." :)

Yeah, I'm not really going to do any of that, but it is ridiculous how long this thing is taking to get going.

To correct that slightly...SOME people talk about SW all the time. It's a limited number! Some, yes, but hardly makes my heart skip a beat.
