Thank goodness I don't have to listen to them talk about Manning next week.

Now you know how the rest of us feel when all they talk about is the Pats.

It is real funny. I was a Pats fan back when they beat the Rams, and maybe even after they won their second ring, however, just like the Niners and Cowboys before them, it is the Pats turn to be the "Hated" team in the League. Of course, they where it like a badge, so mega dittos to Brady and the Pats.

I do believe they have already started engraving the Lombardi Trophy.

Now on a side note, how about T.O.'s reaction to the Cowboy loss. Is he running for President now too?

So basically, you're a bandwagon jumper? When it's "trendy" to like a team...you like them...but when it becomes trendy to hate a team...you hate them. Make up your own mind and don't rely on what's "cool" or what the media wants you to think.

9/11 hits and everybody wants the Patriots to win just because they were red, white, and blue...and they are the PATRIOTS. They win. Then, they go down...and people were disappointed. They get back on the winning track and win it again! People rejoice. Now, the dreaded Patriots do it back to back. Wait, a Dynasty! Now they have their names run through the mud, go out and play their hearts out for 60 minutes a game...and they're hated. So, everybody hate them! Everybody wants a hero to dethrone the evil ones!

Same thing with the Red Sox. Everybody hates the Yankees...and there was much rejoicing in '04. Now they win it again in '07 and they're suddenly becoming the Yankees.

Why is it that people can't think for themselves these days?

My dislike of the Pats began and has been continuous since my love of the Colts started back when I attended college in Indy. I'm not fickle in my great dislike for the New England team. Do you like me more now? ;)

Yes

I don't care if you hate the Pats or any team...but to dislike them because it's the trendy thing to do just makes one sound silly.

I don't like the Pats because they beat us in the Superbowl and probably cheated to do it! They just didn't get caught then! (By the way, us = Eagles)

I can't wait for the Packers to send the Giants home! But I was glad the Giants beat T.O. and the Cowboys.

T.O.'s interview had me ROFL! He just does one media stunt after another. :ROFLOL:

I just hope the Packers can go all the way! I like San Diego too! Hope L.T. gets healthy!

Yeah, but the difference is that Manning I hear about not just because of his playing, but because he's in something like 90% of the commercials on television these days(I know that's an exaggeration, but he is in quite a few). So while I would only hear the media talking about the Colts, or the Cowboys or anyone else when I wanted to watch something where they were talking about football, I can't escape Manning at all. And I was kinda wrong about not having to listen to talk about Manning, because more of the media are focusing on "Manning is having can't win the big game flashbacks" and not on "The Chargers played with a lot of heart and a lot of guts. Even with their big guys out for portions of the game, they still won."

As for T.O., I think I'd cry too if my team lost to Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin.

The Chargers deserve a ton of credit for winning on the road with their #1 TE and RB non-factors, and their starting QB missing most of the second half. I think this might be New England's toughest match of the playoffs, the way San Diego is playing right now.

The Cowboys and Giants

As a Cowboys fan I am upset about the game yesterday. I watched it at the ESPN club right before going to the Magic Kingdom for extra Magic hours. In fact after extra Magic hours I went to Polynesian to get a non-alcohol drink, before going back to the AllStars (AllStars was the hotel that I stayed at for this trip) > Since I was upset about the game I just felt like going to the Polly and having a drink made from fruit juice and sitting down and taking it easy.

As to why the Cowboys lost, well I think we all should remember 2 things about the NFL. 1. Any team can win on any given day! 2. On any given day any team can be beat! > Also win you have division rivals playing eachother you have to really remember those 2 things.

Also the Giants are a tough team. If the Giants go on to win the Super Bowl this year, I will not be surprised. In fact before the Cowboys and Giants game I was thinking whoever wins this game can very well go on the win the Super Bowl, because they are both tough teams.

I am not saying that I think the Giants are going to beat the Packers. If you asked me who I thought would win between the Packers and the Giants I would tell you I don't know. I think it's going to be a close game. The Packers have the advantage since they are at home and everything, but I have a feeling about the Giants.

As for the Chargers and New England. Well if it's the Giants and the Chargers I just don't know who would win that game. If it's New England and the Giants, well the odds would favor New England and if I had to pick who would win that game I guess I would go with New England (once my Cowboys are out, I don't always like to pick who will win) > Okay New England will most likely win the Super Bowl, but I will not be surprised if we see the Giants get their third Super Bowl ring on Feb 3rd. Like I said I just have a feeling about the Giants.

Eli Manning may not have won the MVP of the year or anything, but right now he is doing what he has to do to win the game. I know he has to go out to Green Bay next week and maybe play in the snow and everything and I know many people feel that the Packers are a better team than the Giants. But it seems like Eli just keeps finding ways to win, I am not sure if I can explain what I want to explain any better. Also the Giants have a lot of other really good players on their team.

As for the Cowboys I am upset that we lost. But I am very happy with what the Cowboys did this year. We went 13-3 in the regular season, and we made it to the second round playoffs and I really believe that we are going to be a very good team for a long time. I might go to Publix later and I am still going to wear my Dallas Cowboys stuff even though we lost. Even if the Cowboys would have went 0-16 this year I would still support them.

Next year I believe that the Dallas Cowboys will have a great year and I think we have what it takes to get back into the playoffs and I believe we will win a playoff game soon  I also believe that we will get a 6th Super Bowl ring soon :king:

I also want to say that Terrell Owens is a good man. The way he defended his quarterback yesterday was Awesome. I was at the Polynesian when I saw Terrell Owens on tv talking about the game. Terrell Owens is Awesome :king::king::king:

Brian, Brian, Brian. Let's not make this personal. I never called you a name :p.:king: :p

I was a fan, so to speak, for that Superbowl. Being a Bengals fan, I tend to pull for the AFC in the Superbowl, when my team is not in it (which is quite often, unfortunately). The fact that Brandi is from Michigan does not hurt. So, when it came to the Superbowl's they played in, I hoped they would win, but enough is enough. This is not just about the Pats.

Nothing against Pats fans either. I think they are one of the 30 or 31st smartest set of fans the NFL has to offer. You see, I have lived a little of what you are now in the middle of. In the late 90's, the Kentucky Wildcats made it to three straight final games, winning two. The third going to overtime before losing to Mike Bibby and Arizona.

Simply stated Success breads hatred.

Go Chargers!

Success breads hatred? With what? crumbs? :lookaroun (kidding, I kid...I'm a kidder  )

Jealousy also breeds hate ;)

Seriously though, if you dislike a team you dislike a team. Don't start to dislike a team because they are going out and doing what they set out to do. Actually, that should make you want to like them more!

If you were to say that you are getting bored with the same teams winning over and over again...that's understandable...but to dislike a team for succeeding is silly.

I actually said this to a coworker of mine...I noticed that it was New England, Indy, San Diego, and Seattle... People that don't live in those areas must really get sick of the same teams making it to the postseason. I understand that new blood and new faces keep the game interesting...and I can understand why people would start to roll their eyes when they see Indy or New England or the Chargers making it to the playoffs.

San Diego is my least favorite team...at the moment. It's not because they are successful...it's because on two separate occassions LT has opened his mouth about the Patriots being classless and overrated. Classless? Why? Oh, that's right...because when they beat them, a few of the players did the Merriman dance. Hmmm...so, its classless to do a dance when the team is down? Why does this dance exist? Merriman does it everytime he makes a sack or a nice tackle. It's ok to do a dance to rub it in when HE is doing it. Then, this year, after the Chargers lost by 24 points...LT says, "9 out of 10 times we'd beat them." Well, LT...is it 18 out of 20 you'd beat them...because the last two times you've lost. I guess it's not even San Diego I don't like...it's just LT, Rivers, and Merriman. (Rivers is another overrated QB that rides LT's back). Now, that could all change if New England wins and LT just comes out and says, "Congratulations," or..."They just beat us." Or even if San Diego wins and they give some respect and credit to how well New England has done.

17-0 means nothing...it's a great fete but any given Sunday any given team can win. San Diego is playing some nasty ball right now and it wouldn't shock me in the least if they came out holding the Lombardi this year.

I love this stuff from DJ Gallo's most recent article on ESPN.com. It's a bunch of mock "Priceless Pep Talks" in the style of the Peyton Manning commercials:

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"Bummed about that loss? Wish you had another shot to knock off the undefeated Patriots? Understandable. But don't sweat it. You're still the reigning Super Bowl champ. Yeah, you know it. You're the man. But only for 20 more days. Then you're crap again. So live it up."

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"Throw another tipped pass that was intercepted in the red zone? Too bad. Here's what you need to do: Work on your accuracy. Maybe watch a game tape of Tom Brady for some tips. That guy went 26-for-28. He's awesome. Plus, watching him is easy on the eyes. Total dreamboat."

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"So I hear you're upset about losing at home in the divisional playoffs. Worried people are going to call you a choker again? Don't be. You played well. You just had a few bad breaks. And you were up against a buzz saw. That Billy Volek has never lost in the playoffs. He's a dynamo."

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"Worried that your coach might be retiring? Understandable. You've had success together. But don't sweat it. You call all of your plays at the line of scrimmage anyway. You could be coached by a gerbil."

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"Jealous of your brother? Wish you were him right now? Don't be. Remember growing up how your mom used to change his diapers? Let me let you in on a little secret: He's still wearing them. Yeah. You know it."

And now, another priceless pep talk for Peyton Manning:

"Disappointed that your season ended so soon? Understandable. One-and-done is a bummer. But remember that you have a Super Bowl ring. Your legacy is secure. So use your extra free time to film some more commercials. I think there's a mortuary in Bloomington you don't yet endorse."

All are good points. I guess the statement is, "Success, in the case of the Patriots breeds arrogance, which drives others to hatred by those who see it and choose to be affected by it". My choice, I suppose. As far as classless, no, I do not think the Patriots fall into that category, well, everyone except #37.

Not to go completely off track but consider the following scenerio: Pretend you are a die hard fan of Boston College. You live and breath College Football and BC is the team you cut teeth on, went through puberty with, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Now, draft day comes and the QB of your beloved BC Eagles gets drafted by the Bills. Do you now become a fan of a divisional rival? I ask this because I have a "friend" who did this with "little Ben Rothlinsburger" and is now a Steelers fan. What say you?

If it's my son, then wherever he plays becomes my favorite team at the time. If he's just a player, I still follow his career and hope he does well, but I still root for MY team, especially if it's a hated rival.

People like teams for different reasons. People can change their minds (that's what is great about sports). I'm saying, the people that only hop on bandwagons, are fairweather fans, or follow what the media says without forming the opinion on their own...is where the fault is. Not everybody has to be a fan of their home team.

Matt Ryan may go to the Dolphins...will I start routing for the Dolphins? No, but at the same time, I'll hope he does well. (And, if you're specifically talking to me about that...I don't mind the Bills even though they are divisional rivals...I think they're an underrated team).

To be honest, if the Pats had lost just one game throughout this season, it would've been extremely boring. The AFC East is a cakewalk for the Patriots. The Dolphins were knocked out of it in like week 9. The Bills were close...but still, they wouldn't had made it no matter what division they were in. I'd rather see a division with 4 strong or similarly talented teams that keep the season interesting rather than a juggernaut that gets you uninterested midway through the season.

We will agree on one thing negatively about the Patriots. That is all about #37. I agree with you 100%. The arrogance you speak of derives from him.

If you listen to the rest of the team speak...even the coach...you won't hear one bit of arrogance from them. It doesn't matter if they're playing the Dolphins or the Colts...they respect that team and train and practice equally as hard.
