Ohhhhhh! Wasn't he replaced by Ray Finkle?

Yeah, but that was before they traded Finkle to Miami.

(In all seriousness, I saw Staubach at one of those "throw the football through the hole and win some money" halftime events a few years ago. The guy who was going for the prize had the choice of throwing the ball himself or having Roger do it from a longer distance. He's still got a pretty good arm.)

Hehe, I know what the Dallas fans are thinking...a win is a win. Frankly, I felt the same way after last week's Pats/Eagles game. Sure, we won...but we won by a field goal against a team that had its backup QB in. Not a real "warm & fuzzy" feeling.

Well I do think the Eagles are better than their 5-6 record. I don't mind if the Eagles win now ( as long as they don't beat us ;) ), because by math there is no way they can catch up to Dallas in the regular season. The only team in are division who can catch up to Dallas is the Giants and they would have to win the rest of their games and my team would have to get beat in are next 4 games for the Giants to win the division.

Well, they're already guaranteed a playoff berth...so who cares about wildcards, etc. :)

Granted, the top teams do have one less game to play...but you'll still be in the hunt after week #17...

So...Congratulations to the Dallas Cowboys!

2 teams decided...

Thank You :)

Also, Congratulation to the New England Patriots :)

The Lions got beat today, so the Cowboys will have at least a 5th seed or higher in the playoffs :)

Since I'm in Buffalo, the only games I had a choice of watching at home were Buffalo/Washington and Seattle/Philadelphia. I ended up watching the Buffalo/Washington matchup. I have to say, I would have been happy with either team winning because of what happened earlier this week with Shaun Taylor. Then it got down to the last 8 seconds of the game and Buffalo was going for the 51 yard FG attempt for the win and Washington called a Timeout to try to mess with the kicker. He still went and kicked it anyway and it went through, just didn't count. I hate that the coaches have been doing that this year, so I really wanted the second attempt to go through as well, but from 51 yards out in the rain, there was a chance something could go wrong. So when the Bills lined up for the FG and Washington tried to use their last Timeout to freeze the kicker again... I cheered because I knew they weren't allowed to do that. A 15 yard Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty and 36 yard FG later and I was actually happy to see the Bills win this one. If Washington hadn't tried to be clever, there was every chance that the Bills would have missed their second attempt and Washington would have won the game.

I would've liked to have seen Washington win for obvious reasons, but I also hate that timeout ploy.

And the Bucs win! No one around here would have ever dreamed that TB would be 8-4 twelve games into the season and leading the division. One more win and we win the division! This is by far Jon Gruden's best coaching job, including the Super Bowl season.

And as for the BCS, what a joke this season. This season screams even more for a college playoff system, but we'll not see it for many seasons to come. :(

I don't always read Greg Easterbrook's Tuesday Morning Quarterback columns on EPSN.com, but I read last weeks because he was writing about if they had to take academics into consideration for the BCS. He had someone come up with what the scoring system would be and according to those stats prior to this weekend's games being played, the BCS Championship game would have ended up as Boston College vs Cinncinati. Meanwhile, Ohio State and LSU would have been somewhere around 21-24 mark, with Hawaii ranked 25. I kinda liked the idea of having a teams academic success be a part of it because it would encourage the student athletes to stay through Senior year and complete their degree.

Well...I like that idea too...but remember...most of those players didn't get to college because of their academic prowess. They got there because they could play football.

Exactly the point, though. There are a lot of players that go to College to play because they want to make the Pros. Their education takes a backseat and they just try to coast until they are eligible for the NFL Draft. Once they go for the Draft, I think they are no longer able to play in College if they don't get drafted or don't like where they are drafted. In a lot of cases that would lead to players leaving school because they didn't end up where they wanted to be. If academics played a part in the the BCS selection system, even just a small part, then you would see more programs working on making sure their players make it to graduation. Besides, many players have benefited from having an extra year or even two in College ball and came up better than they might have been being drafted in Junior year.

I see what you're saying...I guess if it all came down to academics, the high school kids would try harder in school back at that level also.

This quote pretty much sums up the last drive:

Cornerback Chris McAlister was more emphatic about the officiating, particularly the late holding call on rookie safety Jamaine Winborne .
''It's hard to go out there and play the Patriots and the refs at the same time,'' McAlister complained. ''They put the crown on top of them, they want them to win. They won.''

What a ticky-tack call for when the game is on the line.

First off...why call the game differently when the game is on the line? Isn't that when you should be calling the game right?

If there is holding...it should be called whether it be the first play of the game...or a game deciding decision.

Remember, the Ravens lost that game on their own. The Patriots did not beat them. No way, no how. The Ravens lost it THEMSELVES...not the officials. The only call that was questionable in that last drive was the TD catch. I truly don't believe he had control over that ball when his feet were in.

I hate that..."You don't call that penalty when the game is that close." Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

How about this...on their last 3 possessions...they went three and out. Or...when they had the Patriots on 4th and 1...and they stopped them...but the coach called a time out. That's bad football! The Patriots deserved to lose that game. But please, don't blame the officials for making a penalty call when it was truly there just because of the situation of the game.

Like I said, the only questionable officiating call was the TD catch. If someone wanted to gripe about that...I would probably be right there with them. The only thing the refs had going for them in that case was the call on the field was a touchdown...so they needed conclusive evidence to overturn it.

Throwing the flag into the stands?!?!?!? That's ridiculously childish and he should be fined or even suspended for such crappy sportsmanship.
