Are you ready for some Football?....:):)

Things that aren't in the rule books that give the team home field advantage I am completely fine with. For instance, the Colts cranking the heat last year on the Pats sidelines in the AFC game. That's great...I actually think that's pretty brilliant. Take every advantage that you can. Is it "fair?" Sure...it's your home field and nothing in the rulebooks says that you can't do it. It paid off for them...granted, the Pats just got outplayed but any way to make the opposition uncomfortable in your home is a smart thing to do.

I actually think that Pats did that to Miami one year...piled up all of the snow behind the Miami bench.

I compare that kinda stuff to firing the muskets, the cannons going off on the pirate ship, etc. It's just part of being "home."

Videotaping signals is in the rulebook...that's cheating. Big no-no.

Bringing in a snowmaking machine, if it's not in the rulebooks, is acceptable.

Hey Brian. I want to go on record as saying I respect the man's ability to coach, but in my book, Professional coaches are motivators (some would say baby sitters). Often times it is the Offensive and Defensive coordinators who run each respective part of the team. I just do not put a lot of stock in the Pro game.

College coaches on the other hand are a different story. Not only are they motivators, they are often father's to these kids, recruiters, mentors, etc. A college coach, who has his roster turn over every 3 to 4 years and continues to win is a GREAT Coach.

So, who IMO is a great coach - Paterno, Shembeckler (sp?), Woody Hayes, Tom Osborne, Bear Bryant. In hoops - Wooden, Rupp, Coach K, Dean Smith, Denny Crum.

For Pro Football, I look at someone who has done it with various teams or over a long span with more peaks than valley's, such as Bud Grant, Tom Landry, that guy (nice eh?) who led the 49rs = Bill something or other, Don Shula, Parcells :lookaroun

I don't believe Parcells has ever won a SuperBowl without Belichick.
Belichick has won 3 without Parcells.
Belichick is widely considered by most NFL commentators to be more involved than most coaches in the offense and (especially) the defense.
Landry coached only 1 team, Walsh only 1 team, Parcells won his SuperBowls with only the Giants.

The point was that those coaches did it over a longer period, with turnover in the roster. As for Parcells :lookaroun I am not a big fan, but he has had success everywhere he has coached. In comparison, Belichick choked on his noodle in Cleveland.

I think the Switzer analogy is applicable, if all the pieces are in place, all you have to do is make sure no one falls off the bus. I dare say that you or I could probably coach these Patriots to a 11-5 record at the worst. . .

Why? Because they are winning? BB molded this team together...he is the reason for their success. I highly doubt that we'd be in the shape that we're in if Pete Carroll were still at the helm.

Actually, in this era it is harder to win like Belichick has. Landry, Walsh and early Parcells had much less turnover.

The Switzer analogy is not even close to applicable. He took over a SuperBowl Champion team. Belichick built his. Brady was a Belichick pick as was Seymour. The Pats in previous years had many injuries and actually became famous for their ability to overcome what many thought would be devastating injuries. But the philosophy of what players they signed allowed them to plug in players and keep chugging along.

Sorry, but no you couldn't coach this team to an 11-5 record. You completely underestimate Belichick's role as the coach and leader of this team. Check out the reaction of the Pats players after the Chargers game this year. That should tell you everything you need to know. The players play for him, respect him and even love him. The rest of the world may see him as an a$$, but not his team.

I meant you could probably get them to 11-5, I figure I would get 13-3 with one clipboard tied behind my back. :animwink:

All I am saying is that without Parcell's, Belichick is packing grocery's at the Piggly Wiggly. . .

Did I mention I was a Red Sox Fan

I'm really annoyed with the NFL and with NBC right now. Sunday's game between the Pats and Colts would have been the perfect game to move the time to be broadcast nationally on Sunday Night Football. Instead, they aired it as one of the afternoon games and not everyone was going to be able to watch it. Now, because the Pats are 9-0, they have decided that the next Pats game, against the Bills in Buffalo, should be moved from a 1:00pm game, to Sunday Night Football. I have tickets to that game and was going to take my son to finally see the Patriots play, now I don't think we can go because he has to be up for school in the morning. Plus, there's a huge temperature dropoff between 1:00pm and 8:15pm that we'd have to contend with... :fork::fork::fork:

*gives Brian a wedgie*

Yes, I can blame him! He should be concentrating on how he can beat the Bills this Sunday.:lookaroun

He's a genius and it's all part of his master plan.

He's stealing moves from the Cowboy's Cheerleaders to teach (himself I might add) the Patriots cheerleaders a hot routine to distract Marshawn Lynch. :lookaroun
