I must say that was like watching Ali-Frazier out there
2 super heavyweights that are the class of the league
Ahh, it's not just us (the fans). The President of the New England Patriots, Jonathan Kraft, went to the NFL Security official at the game. Multiple teams have reported this. No sour grapes, just applying the same standard. If they cheat they should get punished.
Just tobe clear; I may be sick of seeing Peyton Manning on every freaking commercial, but he is a GREAT QB. The Colts are a Great team. Dungy is a Great coach.
Bill Polian is a .....:fork:. He has used his position on the Competition Comm. to try and change the rules and influence officials to favor his team. He has made deliberate comments in the press before a Pats/Colts playoff game specifically to influence their calls. No need to convince anyone in New England that certain members of the Colts organization will do anything to win; Polian has proven it.
I really don't mind the bad guy image and yes everyone can jump on the Hate the pats bandwagon, bon't blame us when we see an opportunity to take a shot at someone that took one at us.
Absolutely. And the game lived up to the hype.No matter what way it turned out...it was the best game of the season.
You're right--this is crapola. I don't believe any of it.Opie & Anthony are saying that Tom Brady is out for 4 games because he failed a drug test. The "A" test came back positive...and they made him take the "B" test and it also came back positive for an illegal supplement.
Funny though...they said it came from the Associated Press...but they say nothing...and nobody but O&A are reporting it at this time
Not for nothing...but Brady doesn't exactly scream "Roid User"
Methinks this is crapola in a handbagMuch like the death of the Mayor.
Does he do anything gracefully? Iakona, Brian, and others can probably answer this way better than me, but do his players like him as a person or do they think he's an SOB but a great coach? You know, he can outcoach anybody, but I'm not having him over dinner in the offseason. :shrug:The one thing that really disappointed me about the game was how Belichick acted when they won. I felt like he was celebrating like it was the Super Bowl. And then he barely even spoke to Dungy when the game was over? You can lose gracefully, but you can also win gracefully and I don't think he did that. And I would have thought that about anyone who acted that way-not just Belichick and not because we lost.

Let us not get ahead of ourselves. Even Barry Switzer won at Dallas. Some times it is a system and ownership that a coach inherits that makes the teams success. I do not recall Bellycheck's teams in Cleveland being anything special.
I also think that the ownership issue is one reason the Bengal's may never get over the hump.
Did the Colts turn off their headsets? That's the rule--one team loses their communications, the other has to go down too.A CBS Cameraman said that he had a headache after being in the stadium for an hour because it was so loud...and an official told him that they mic the crowd and put it through the speaker system. This was a CBS worker...not saying it's true...but that's what he said on the Today show.
Also...The coach/QB headset didn't work for the Patriots. They went strictly to signals and the wristband.
It could just be a coincidence...but it would be a big one.
Correct. I don't like him, but I'll acknowledge him as a great coach.Umm...his starting quarterback goes out in game 2...the team goes on to win the SuperBowl being heavily UNfavored throughout the season and the entire postseason. That's great coaching.
Don't take anything away from him as a coach. Ethics...fine...being a "good guy" fine...don't stoop to the level of him not being a great coach.
Not one player on that team was even known...it was the Rockies of Football. He brought them together as a machine...not single players.

Brian, you mentioned yesterday about playing football in the elements and not inside, this is another one I would gripe about--electronic communication with players in the game. Players in the past never had this "luxury" and they did just fine. If we're gonna throw them out in the snow and rain, let's make them get plays into the huddle the old-fashioned way. The former players did just fine.
And don't get me started on instant replay....:animwink:
Stoop?
I am standing quite upright when I say his record with the Browns (prior to any expansion team excuse) was 36-44. Now, I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night > 36-44 does not a Great Coach make.
IMO, he came back to a team just 4 years after a SuperBowl and resurrected a Parcel's system with some of the components still in place.
I also do not believe the Patriots win that first SuperBowl with Bledsoe at the helm. Brady is the near perfect quarterback for that system.
Great Team - YES.
Great Coach -
Jon Gruden? :lookarounMaybe he didn't "jive" with the Browns. Maybe he didn't have the experience...maybe it just wasn't the right environment.
Well, you could say that about any "great coach"
Maybe Shula wasn't a great coach...maybe it was all the team.
Maybe Joe Torre isn't a great coach...afterall...he was coaching an All-Star team.
How about Terry Francona? Great coach?
Ditka? Parcells? Marty? Phil Jackson?
How about this one...Romeo Crennel. Great coach?
How many of the "great" coaches out there have won 3 SuperBowls...and, of those coaches, what makes them great?
I absolutely don't agree with that, but then...you expected that, right?Anyhoo...if you've ever been to a game in the RCA Dome, you know how the sound is...it just...is. Loud and uneven and reverberating (sp?). They don't pipe it in. I swear. I heard one of the commentators mention how this crowd knows to shut up when Peyton is calling plays, as well...is that cheating? Nah...just smart fans.

It was a good game-the Colts played great, but when it came down to it, the Pats played greater. Hopefully, we'll meet again this season, and can look forward to another great game between the two best teams in the league.
