One of their linebackers had plenty to say about it. I saw a long quote that he had made that was read on SportsCenter. He wasn't a happy camper.

Was it the same player that was talking smack about us?

What the heck could he say?!?!?

I'm so mad that they kept scoring on us! That's not fair!

I'd love to read it...can you send me a link please? :)

I'll look for something on it. I don't remember his name and I saw it, didn't read it. All I remember is that it was one of their linebackers.

Here is the link: http://www.projo.com/patriots/content/sp_fbn_patsjo30_10-30-07_8T7LR6A_v9.3302bad.html

Was this it? Because it doesn't sound like complaining...

The Redskins did not openly complain about the fourth-down play. When asked what he thought of it, Gibbs said, "I have no problem with anything that they did. Nothing. No problems from me."

The general reaction from the players could be summed up by linebacker London Fletcher, who said: "It's their football, that's what they chose to do with the ball. It's our job to stop them."

If they have no problem with it...why does everybody else? London Fletcher is exactly right.

It's our JOB TO STOP THEM! They couldn't...so the score went up.

Brian, the "rules" of sportmanship says that you don't throw on fourth down when you are up by 35 points. Ever.

It's obvious that BB is running up the score and he doesn't care what anyone thinks. If you're throwing on fourth down with a lead like that, you're running it up and don't care.

NE has every right to do it, but it's not right. It just smacks against sportsmanship in athletic contests.

If the shoe was on the other foot, you'd see it differently.

And, the Washington players and Joe Gibbs are saying the right things to the media; I'd bet the farm that it's a different story behind the closed doors of the clubhouse.

So if the rules of sportsmanship are to call off the dogs when your up by 35, should the Red Sox have stopped scoring runs when up by 6, or Michael Jordan should have passed the ball more when he scored more then 50. Please these are not H.S. players were talking about these are egotistical pros. And when Randall Godfrey starts complaining and says that he hopes to play us again.:ROFLOL:. What a joke this league and its fans are becoming we are playing better then everyone big deal. I didn't cry when ther pat lost to the bears in the super bowl

I believe I already conceded to the fact that they are running up the score.

Sportsmanship went out the window the minute the defensive backs started running their mouths. Was that sportsmanlike? Ahhhh but nobody says anything about that being poor sportsmanship prior to the game...but now it's "Poor Redskins" Merriman doing a dance when he accomplishes something is ok...but when the Patriots actually put their dancing shoes where their mouth is...it's "Poor Chargers." How dare they do my victory dance when they are victorious!

It's not just because they are running up the score...this happens with every team that excels. If it's not one thing the media plays up to downgrade a team...it's another thing.

The same thing with the Red Sox...the same thing with the Yankees...the same thing with Indy. Blah blah blah. I guess everybody that accomplishes things needs to have someone telling them that they are doing something wrong so they feel better about themselves.

Like Iakona said...BB didn't run the score up on Cleveland...why? Because they kept their mouths shut and didn't say they were going to do things to us that they couldn't do.

I'm so done on this subject that it's not even funny. There are 31 other teams out there...2 that are undefeated...2 that are winless...and some that are charging forth from bad starts (Saints for instance). Why not discuss the great TD pass that Favre threw last night in OT?

Well, we'll never agree on this point, especially since you side with the Patriots and that's okay.

Favre's pass was amazing. Not bad for a guy who is 82 years old.

:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

A local radio station pulled some stats on some of the dominant teams in the past. Funny thing is they all were accused of the same thing. Included in this was Indy. Comes with the territory of being a dominant team
As I said before; you really want to watch a team run up the score tune in on 12/16 when the Jets come to Foxboro. It's gonna be ugly.

This week; I expect a great game.

I just would like to point out one thing about the points scored in the second half of the game between the Pats and the Skins. At halftime, it was 24-0. The second half started, Brady ran the ball in for a TD. 31-0. The next TD was off of a Roosevelt Colvin fumble recovery. He ran that back for a TD to make it 38-0. That was a defensive play and he did exactly what he should have done. That's how the third quarter ended. So that had nothing to do with the Offense running up the score. Next you get a short TD pass to Wes Welker. They had made their way down the field and were right there. If they had run it, they likely would have scored. If you pass on short yardage practically in the endzone already, then there is a high chance of an incompletion or an interception because there are so many defenders cramming into a far smaller area. Passing there actually gave the defense a chance to come away with it and they failed to do so. Brady came out after that and Matt Cassel was put in. The final TD for the Pats was scored by him running it into the endzone from 15 yards out. The Defense for the Skins let a QB get 15 yards on them and a backup QB at that. Any throws that were made by him, and that would be 3 total attempts with 2 completions, were to get him some game experience in case Brady were to go down with an injury. Especially if Brady went down in the Playoffs. So to say that the Pats should have slowed down when they got to 35 points, well, if the Redskins Defense played like the #5 Defense in the NFL, then they wouldn't have allowed some of those points to be scored and if the Offensive player that fumbled the ball had actually held onto it instead, maybe the Redskins might have gotten some momentum going. I don't feel sorry for the Redskins at all. And I wouldn't feel sorry for them if they had taken this beating from anyone else in the league except maybe the Dolphins and the Rams. Nobody should take a beating like that from either of those teams they way they've been playing.

Thank you Bryan.

This is turning into the "No Child Left Behind" campaign.

If a kid isn't good enough to make the grade or make the team...then he/she shouldn't make it. If that child wants to make it bad enough...he/she will apply himself more and try harder in order to accomplish something that he/she wants to do. If "every" kid makes it...then you're holding back the kid's that DO deserve to be there because now they're not getting the full brunt of the sport/class. This is only done to "protect" the children...when in actuality it is hurting them in the long run.

Because, so far, no team has been able to stop the Patriots... (that could change this weekend) the Patriots are suppose to not try as hard or play to their caliber so that the other team doesn't get their feelings hurt.

Yes, if the Patriots were in the dumpster...or if I was a St.Louis fan...I would be bummed out...but I wouldn't expect a team to go "light" on us just to "protect" our feelings. If Sunday afternoon, Indy walks in and tosses a Hail Mary with 2 seconds left and they are up 65-3...and they make it...I won't complain that they ran up the score...I, at first, would be damn impressed...but then I'd expect the Pats to regroup and go out there and take control next week. You'd never EVER hear me say, "I can't believe they were playing their hardest and trying to score touchdowns when they knew we couldn't catch up."

"Hurting people's feelings" is getting way too overblown. It's just funny that the word "unsportsmanlike" comes up only when a team is excelling and can actually do the actions rather than just spouting off hollow words.

Oh, and another thing...this was taken from an article on MSN Sports...and I agree with this statement.

"Let me explain the hypocrisy of all the crying about the Patriots' never-let-off-the-gas offense.

We don't whine when defenses refuse to back down.

You ever see a defensive coordinator throw his starters back out on the field in an effort to preserve a shutout? Happens all the time, and no one sheds a tear."

How is that different from running up the score?
