So against the "best defense" they've had to play so far, they score more points. Works for me...
So what does that say about playing Indy next week? :lookaroun

One word to describe what Indy has done so far this season: EXPECTED.

One word to describe what New England has done so far this season: PHENOMENAL.

Ahhh yes sunday this town will be rockin as the 2 best in the NFL Colts Vs. Patriots gets underway at 4:15 P.M. I for one hope I am lucky enough to be in the RCA Dome for this game.Brady and the Amazing Pats vs Peyton and his Unstoppable Colts(12 in a row) in a game for the ages....or until January when these 2 will most likely play again in the AFC Championship.

This is the latest in a season that 2 teams with undefeated records went head to head.I wouldnt be surprised if this one comes down to a FG as these 2 teams are so evenly matched. The Colts have won 3 straight in this series but before that the Pats won either 4 or 5 straight. The Colts and Pats are this decades Dallas v 49ers.As a Colts fan I hope the D is up for the challenge but as a football fan I am excited for a great matchup!!

You must have a pretty liberal scoring system. They had about the same amount of yards and Brady had one more TD than Breese.
 I thought Brees threw for 4 TD's and Brady had 3.

I'm more of an Indy fan than NE, but I think the Pats easily take this game next week.

Easily??? They may have #1 O but Colts have #3 D and #3 O so they can put up points too.I think this is a game that will be talked about for a long time but NE winning easily in Indy? I doubt that. New England if they win will not walkover the Colts. It will be all that has been hyped for.

Also Colts #1 pass defense in league this year.

Yeah, I got nothin in way of defending them on this one. They ran it up. I guess they are tryuly on a mission this year. WOW.

Actually, I heard the broadcasters saying that really the Pats were going to look bad either way as far as running up the score. They would go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the FG because they would have been accused of running it up taking the points, but get accused of running it up because they ran the ball and risked turning it over deep in Washington territory. It's not like they could just take a knee every time. And it's not like Washington was doing anything to stop them from scoring at will.

Here's a new take on the classic John McKay quote "I'm in favor of it" in answer to "what do you think of your team's execution?"

John Clayton (ESPN.com) said:
"It's just something the coaching staff wants to do," wide receiver Donte' Stallworth said. "We're behind them for whatever they want to do. Whatever play they call, we are going to run it.

"We've been attacked since the start of the season, so we don't care. Whatever is going on out there, we just go out and play and try to execute what we are doing."

That's exactly what the Patriots are doing. They are executing everyone.

I would like nothing more than to see Indy win the game, but I just don't think it's going to happen. New England is possessed right now, they are nasty, they don't care about unwritten rules of the game, they are on a seek and destroy mission, and their #1 target is coming up right now. Plus, nothing from Boston right now is coming up losers.

Pats win by at least 10.

Is throwing it on 4th down in a blowout on the same level as trying to bunt in the 9th inning of a no-hitter with nobody on? I have to side with the announcer here. Makes for good discussion anyway.
Just like I said a couple of weeks ago--they're running up the score. Belichick is ed at the league, he's ed at anyone that questions him, and he's on a mission to stuff down everyone's throat. I don't blame the players because they are simply doing what the coaches tell them to do. That's an interesting piece of video. Run on 4th down and let the chips fall where they may, but throwing?

Hehe, ok ok ok...I believe it now

But, honestly...think of it this way. Do you take a knee for the entire 2nd half? Is that doing any justice to the fans? Imagine if you bought tickets to a game...(which are NOT cheap)...and you go and for half the game the team is taking a knee. That's not exactly going to keep getting fans in the seats.

This is what I don't get though. Why is it a bad thing to run up the score?

Put yourself in this position.

Say that you play for the Redskins defense.

Would you rather see the opposition going out and taking a knee for half the game...or playing? In my eyes, if I see a team taking a knee...and not even trying...it's a slap in the face and takes away my self worth. If they go out and they're scoring on me...now I'm getting mad...and I take that score of 52-7 into the locker room...and it drives me to go out and be better. (There is a reason why there isn't a "slaughter rule") At least if they're playing...I can TRY to stop them...if they take a knee...they've taken my reason for being there...right out of the game.

Whether they are scoring points by touchdowns or always going for a field goal...they'd still appear as if they are running up the score.

Remember...this isn't Pop Warner here...these are professionals getting paid to go out and execute and perform the way they are trained. There is no room in battle to feel sorry for the other team...

The media has woken up a monster... Taking a knee would show compassion...monsters don't have compassion.

This monster is scary...and I'm very glad I'm standing behind it rather than in its path.

I think the unwritten rules went out the window for the Pats when Mangini turned them into the NFL and other coaches and people around the leaque questioned their previous Super Bowls. The Pats care only about 1 thing: winning and wining as big as possible.
I think the Pats will beat the Colts, not by 45, but 13.
Think about this; if this is how Belicheck treats the rest oft he NFL I am thinking an NFL record for points scored in one game on 12/16 against the Jets.

I don't think you take a knee (that one seems an obvious no) or kick field goals...but I do think you go to a run-oriented attack to burn the clock. That's the unwritten code that strikes a balance between just laying down and rubbing the other guy's noses in it. If their D-Line and LB's can't stuff your run game, then that's just how it goes. Throwing it isn't necessarily ALWAYS wrong...running routes that help you pick up first downs is OK. Sending receivers deep or throwing it on goal-to-go situations is something else in my mind.

But not everybody agrees, at least publicly. Joe Gibbs said after the game he didnt have a problem with what they were doing. I interviewed a high school coach after a similar game, where an unbeaten team came in against his winless team and kept the starters in and threw the ball on fourth down well after the outcome was decided. I asked him about it and he said "Well, I know what he's doing, he's got to get his guys ready for the playoffs."
