Are there really rooms at All-Star Sports?

:veryconfu My wife and I will be returning to WDW in late September and will be staying at All-Star Movies for the third time. I have tried 7 times (3/1996, 3/1999, 3/2000, 3/2001, 3/2002, 9/2003, 10/2004) to get a room at AS Sports but have always been told none are available. I have never heard of, or talked to, anyone who has ever stayed at AS Sports. Are they really rooms there, or is it just a facade? I have never been on a AS bus that has picked up or dropped off passangers at AS Sports. Can anyone shed some light on this conundrum?

Lol...yes, there are really rooms in All Star Sports. If this helps, when student groups (Band, Cheerleading, etc) groups go to WDW, they usually stay in All Star, so maybe that's why it's always full.
On the other hand, Movies is usually booked for me (although I have stayed there twice)

One more thing--I noticed that you always seemed to try in March, which is a big time for large traveling groups from school to go. (That's when we went for Magic Music Days)
Maybe you're not booking far enough in advance. But on the other hand, other then Easter, I don't believe March is a high capacity time for WDW. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

Yes there are rooms there, and yes it was horrible (for us anyway). Not the rooms, not the resort, but the cheerleaders. It was very difficult to deal with as they were everywhere and rather noisy. I don't blame them for it, I just wish Disney told us when we reserved the rooms that it would be packed with screaming girls. We transfered resorts after the 2nd night.

But yes, there rooms at the All Star Sports.

I stayed there in 1997 for the first and only time so far. The rooms were nice but a little small. The theming of the hotel was awesome and fun. The shuttle buses ran every 10-15 mins so getting around was very easy. I would stay there again but, I live here now and won't spend the money for a room unless it's a special event.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I find this posting so ironic because my wife and I always seem to end up at Sports. Movies fills up for us instead and music is the second one we end up at. Due to the number of events at the Wide World of Sports and the fact that most of the groups stay at All Star it makes it even better to stay at Pop Century now.

Well, just be forewarned that it can get pretty noisy at Sports when there are event participants staying there. We've been both in Dec., and Jan., both times encountering cheerleaders, and Pop Warner participants. And there's little that can or will be done to tone it down. So pack your patience, unless you plan on staying elsewhere.

Thanx for the responses. I guess we'll stick with ASM--getting too old for all the noise at 1-2 AM.

I think that is a good choice. The resort is nice enough, it is just the cheerleaders are a bit much if you don't want to deal with the noise and kids being kids with little or no supervision. I have heard of people having their doors knocked on in the middle of the night and then the girls running off.

When we were there, I had taken my two little brothers who were about 7 and 9 to the pool on the 1st night. My wife was pregnant and feeling rather ill so she stayed at the room. Some of the cheerleaders that were teenagers were at the pool and goofing around and pulling each others suits down. It was a bit much with kids hanging around. I complained at the front desk and after a bit of complaining they found us a room at Dixie Landings and we moved on our 3rd day with a free upgrade.

Don’t get me wrong, I think that it is fine if they want to have the cheerleaders there. They should just alert you when you make your reservation.

Which ASM? Mu or Mo?

Just be aware that 800 rooms were used at each of the 3 themes this year during Cheerleading season.

Actually you may want to look into Pop Century as an alternative, same price range and the cheerleading groups arent put there at all!!!! I stayed there and found it very cute and one of my friends just stayed there last week and liked it very much!! She felt it was a big improvement over the All Stars in terms of room and building design. Just a thought!! Belle

Our daughter was a cheerleader and stayed at colleges for camps so I know what you mean about the rooms, but they are no worse than any other group of teenagers. Try driving a van with 15 high school cheerleaders for 3 hours if you want an experience of a lifetime and the end of normal hearing.

We are staying at ASMo. I would like to try PC, but I have read that at almost 2,900 rooms the busses and food court are very crowded at PC. At least we can usually find a seat on a bus from ASMo or ASMu in the morning.

WOT, but is it me alone who thinks that giving your seat to an older person is not taught by parents anymore?

When I worked there the cheerleaders were juat as bad. I don't have any idea how but one room had a hole in the wall 1 1/2 feet across at check out. On top of the fact that they never shut up they are super catty. The rule of no trophy or team affiliation display in the room windows comes about from all the vandalism in years past. I remember a call one night from custodial that cheerleaders had TPed a tree. Luckily they were caught in the act and a chaperone had to help them pull it out with pickers for over 2 hours. Brazilians are a breeze compared to cheerleaders.
