Are the flashing no stopping signs at the main entrance always been there?

Geez people, lighten up....we are talking about a theme park and people wanting pictures....if you don't want people to take photos, then do not give them the photo op.

If this such a problem then they should dismantle the signs and cleanse the whole property of all themeing. Don't forget to post the no photos allowed signs all over property.

If you think that people pulling to the side for the arch pic is bad, about 2 yrs ago I saw a family get out of their car while it is on one of the parking lot ticket booths and was going to have a portrait taken with the MK sign in the background!

I think we all know the signs are there as a liability umbrella for WDW when and if somebody gets killed pulling this stunt. Nothing wrong with taking pictures but putting others in danger doing so is not OK IMO.

Really? I hope that is a joke. If not then you have apparently not been behind one of the psychopaths that decide to put both feet on the brake and fully stop in the lane in front of you. LOL Or come down the highway doing 55mph and God forbid try to drive in your lane only to find that some moron has stopped their car, directly in the lane. So I don't think we need to lighten up. I think we need to fully expect people to not stop on a highway just to take a photo op. If they feel that strongly about it then they can drive down the highway a bit, find somewhere safe to park and hoof it back down the grass to the sign.

Disney is trying to make traffic flow easier into and out of their property. Putting up a place to stop would be terrible. Cars would slow down, then have to speed back up, kids wandering around 60mph highway. Then when someone gets hit, the parents would sue, stating "you ought to have signs here saying not to stop."

I've seen a large family on the side of the road. Easily 10+, and little kids just standing in a group in front of the sign while dad gets the camera ready. One distracted driver and that entire family is taken out.

It was kind of funny, the way the camera was set up, it was the cameraman, the group, large flashing "Do Not Stop" sign, then the WDW sign, so I'm pretty sure the flashing sign got on their photo lol.

There are definitely less people taking pictures there. I used to see idiots who were stopped with the car hood up (like they were working on the car), taking pictures. Even a taxi cab was doing it. I've had to put on the brakes because some stupid guy pulled out very slow directly in front of a car in front of me. :fork:

New idea: cover up the current entrance sign with figurines of Stitch spray painting it and covering it in toilet paper.

I like to call this "Irony at it's Finest". After I took this I showed him the sign. He called me an a**hole and stomped off. LOL I couldn't help it. It was funny. :lol:

Simplest reason as to why they don't build a lot to park in to take photos: There isn't room, and to MAKE the room would be the most expensive stupid little project ever imagined.

Just talking about World Drive for a moment...
The center section has two ramps of 2 lanes that are in the process of merging together into a 4-lane highway as it passes under the arch.

There isn't room in the grassy areas for the lots, so that would require moving and rebuilding things. Doing THAT would require them to realign and/or re-build 10 lanes of highway, two ramps and probably a bridge, as well as a totally new archway plus this new lot with slowdown and speedup lanes separate from the roadway....

And that's just World Drive. There are *three* other archway signs around property that get people trying to illegally stop and take photos of...

Do you *really* expect them to do all that? :veryconfu

I love the shirts they are wearing, WDW Drinking Team. What idiots. Yeah, Disney loves people that hop from place to place in World Showcase slamming back beer after beer after beer after beer. They make things so lively don't they?

1. The flashing lights have been up for about 3 months, signs were up for about a year.
2. It is illegal to stop on the side of the roadway since there is no shoulder. 3. You are also tearing up the grass and breaking sprinkler heads and they are constantly having to replace everything because the side of the road is very wet and soggy.
4.Before the signs were put up there were at least half a dozen accidents a day because of people either slowing and stopping to pull over, or pulling out in front of other vehicles and getting hit.
5. If you get caught by a Orange County Sheriff pulled over disobeying the signs you will be starting your vacation with a couple tickets and almost $500.00 dollars in fines!
6. While you wait for the deputy to finish writing up your citations,you will also be greeted by Security and a Company rep and your information will be taken and you will be informed you will be billed to replace the grass and any spinkler heads you may have damaged on the side of the road you tore up! More money you spent and you haven't even checked in or gone to the parks!

Now ask yourself this question. How would you like it if people constantly pulled over in front of your house into your grass tearing it up, got out to take pictures and then left,and then constantly spending your own money because your have to constantly replace your grass and sprinkler heads?
