I've never ate at a real Disney restaurant yet... so I don't want to be making rookie mistakes  I could use all you food-expert's help and advice.

I booked dining reservations for the following:

Plaza Restaurant - lunch
Crystal Palace- dinner
Le Cellier- lunch
Cape May Cafe- dinner
Sci-Fi Dine In- dinner
Big River Grille and Brewing Works- lunch

Anyone object to these? Please let me know your experiences from these restaurants and how you rate them just to make sure I'm making the right choices. Thanks.

Sounds good, but your gonna hear tons of different things. I am not an example of sci-fi, but I like crystal palace... Like it more for breakfast tho.. I love Boma. Ive never eaten at the plaza restaurant to be honest, but always good to try things. A character meal I love better than cape may is chef mickeys, but Ive done them all... Really have not had too many bad meals.

Woah, I haven't even noticed that Cape May was a character meal... what characters do they have there?

And I think Boma should be added to the lineup, but my dad seems to think they're all African meats with African herbs and spices. Is this true? I doubt it's all strictly African.

I'm pretty sure Cape May only has characters at breakfast.

Your choices look great. I haven't been to Big River Grille or Crystal Palace (not into characters) but I've heard good things.

I have dined at all ... no complaints about any of them. We are going back to Le Cell and Sci Fi this trip. Cape May is character breakfast only.

All good choices! As for Boma, I am not an adventuresome eater, nor is my family, but we LOVED Boma--it was a great experience with something for everyone. Since it is a buffet, you can sample things and if you don't like them, simply try something else! We found lots and lots of excellent choices for some very picky "American" eaters!

No choices are bad, it's just important to make sure they serve your needs. Plaza and CP are great MK choices--big crowd pleasers.

Le Cellier is one of the best, and hardest to get, reservations at WDW.

Cape May is a polarizing place. It is generally loved or hated no in-between. If you and your family are really into clambake type seafood you will probably love it, if not I'd try something else. Chef Mickey's and 'Ohanas are great all-you-can-eats on the monorail.

Sci-Fi is really fun especially if you like old cheesy movies or have fond memories of the drive-in. I would stick with the more basic fare here. Burgers and apps are their specialty and are your best bets.

Big River is great if you are into micro-brews and want to kick back for a while. I'd definitely ask for outside seating and wait extra if you have to as the dining room tends to be crowded and loud. Outside you can chill-out and watch the Boardwalk as you leisurely throw a few back. If your looking for something quick and good to get you back in the parks this isn't the place.

Boma will have a few choices to please a picky eater, but it is mainly exotic foods and combinations. You must be ready to truly challenge your pallet or you are wasting your money and would be better off at 'Ohanas.

The plaza is great. It's comfort food, burgers, milkshakes. Crystal palace is a character buffet dinner. This has pooh, piglet, tigger and eeyore. The food is good. Cape may dinner is a buffet, but the breakfast is a character meal. I agree that you should try Boma. It is our favorite restaurants. My DW and I took our whole family. Our DNephew loved it and he was only 2. There are some regular American foods as well as African influenced dishes.

For my DH and I - Crystal Palace and Le Cellier are a must. Very good choices. Plaza - meh - it's good. For us, nothing to write home about. Sci - Fi - DH loves it and I can't stand it. It's a theme thing for me - I hate it. But the food is good. Big River - Yummy! It's a Gordon Birsch place - always good. Cape May we loved for bfast - b/c I don't eat sea food - we've not done dinner. Have a great trip!

You have chosen from all over the board. I like it. My opinion however, is Big River Grill is great, but its a normal restaurant. If you go, Definatly sit outside like it was mentioned; but there are way more unique restaurants to choose from.

I really appreciate everyone's 2-cents and here are some ideas I have to maybe change some up

Cape May Cafe -> Ohana/Boma? - is there just a plain steak on the menu for a picky eater? (I'm the picky eater :( )

We ate @ Cape May 2 Sundays ago with 9 adults and not 1 complaint. Crab legs are a nice addition, I really liked the hand carved sirloin too, I asked for M.rare and got it. Your other choices all sound good. Have fun

Nice Nick! Going to hit both of those up next month along with Jiko. We have been to Ohanas but Boma will be new for us.

I want to try Jiko, I might do it this summer. You're going to have to give me a review Mike.

I've never done dinner at Boma, but I love breakfast there. It's the last place I eat every trip. :slurp:

The main dishes at 'Ohana are grilled meats brought to your table on long skewers. Usually they have beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp. If you like steak you will love 'Ohana.

Boma will have some kinds of carved meat and other things you'll enjoy, but you won't be getting the full effect unless you are excited about exploring new tastes.
