Apple looking to buy Disney?!?!

It is time for Disney to buy someone else, either another media business or maybe Hasbro. Hasbro would be a good choice to manufacture the Disney toys and as a side benefit own Little Pony.
Lets encourage them to finish fixing the parks before the blow the money on another company! (I am feeling the evil eyebrows from a million Disney investors)

No, as a stockholder I want them to fix all 4 themeparks, add more attractions to the 2 water parks, increase on property hotel rooms and DVC rooms to 50,000 and yes build the new gate. This should all be done along with buying another company to make any proposed takeover unlikely. I don't want apple or any other company taking over Disney. WDW should be able to draw 70 million a year and fill up 50,000 rooms by the end of the 2020s. I want Disney to make a fortune and make my trips even better, longer and more enjoyable as I continue to spend more and more each year.

and Apple is going to buy Tesla.

and Apple is going to buy (over the years) about 100 tech companies.

Apple has no interest in Disney, their whole operation is foreign to Apple. If Apple was to become a conglomerate it would be the death of Apple soon after. In fact conglomerates always do badly in the long run. Everyone gets pumped up over new buys into other then core business. Bean counters come in and squeeze out costs, stock holders rejoice stock goes up. 10 years later all talent has left to make room for more accountants and the businesses all go into decline. Bright accountant then says let's sell off these non core businesses and stock holders rejoice. Never ending cycle. The businesses sold off never regain their strength because the core people are long gone and the companies soul has been taken.

Apple should be kicking back a big dividend but realize Apple's money is over seas which is very problematic.

Apple will not buy Disney, just nonsense talk.

Not neccesarily, AAPL wants to become a content ecosystem. Disney is an ideal candidate because of their content pipeline and OTA network assets (ABC)

The only bump here is P&R and Consumer products

There is a LOT of AAPL DNA in PIXAR

IF this deal ever happens P&R would be immediately sold possibly even to the Chinese and operated under license.

A deal like this would cement AAPL's role as a content powerhouse

And likely would NOT be good for park fans anywhere.

Yet there are some companies that no longer exist or are just a tiny semblance of their former self because they didn't diversify enough (coughMotorolacough).

There comes a time when the past core of a business is no longer relevant. I don't think anyone seriously believes the brunt of Apple's business ten years from now will still be an iPhone.

Its what we all want but will never happen on the watch of the green eyeshade boys infesting burbank,

Its much more likely that DIS will be broken up to 'enhance shareholder value' because current management will be looking to cash out soon

But how can you be so sure it would be a terrible move? I personally don't want to see it, but maybe they would really blow some minds. Who knows. For some of you, WDW couldn't get much worse as it is.

It would be a terrible move for the parks because they would be sold to the highest bidder and after that would be loaded down with billions in debt. But because its bad its something Today Disney would do...

It's clear that this is 'armchair imagineering' by RBC Capital...

That said, IF they did this (besides making me a very unhappy $AAPL shareholder), they would HAVE to sell off P&R.

Imagine if the buyer was none other than Cedar Fair, run by Matt Ouimet.... The parks could be more $FUN...

Assuming the government provide some tax holiday for companies like Apple to repatriate their offshore money to the US, Apple is really going to have to come up with something.... Either a special one-time dividend which would need to be about 18 dollars a share to remove the excess cash... Or they will need to purchase companies, not small ones like they used to do in the past when they would buy a company for the technology it had and then discard the carcass... So I fully expect them to go down the conglomerate road... not sure if Disney is the right fit for them... frankly Netflix is a more likely candidate for them than Disney because the thing Apple needs is content to drive their video side, Disney has the content but it would cost them 3 times as much as Netflix and would likely result in them spinning off or selling off chunks of the business that made no real sense to them at all... Netflix on the other hand would be a very easy fit.

Though back to the original point... Apple is already expanding beyond their original footprint, working on cars, glucose monitoring.... several things that point to them being more than willing to move into the conglomerate sphere.... Only hope for stock holders is that if they do it that the will do it as a holding company model so the can more easily dump operating units when the time is right.

Why would they want to manufacture toys? The current model of just licensing the characters to other manufacturers makes a lot more sense. They get paid for every Star Wars toy made and don't have any of the risk of making the next toy that no one likes or that unexpectedly has a design flaw that results in kids getting blinded and lawsuits piling up. No reason to try and squeeze out any direct profits from toys because it has way too many downside risks.
