At this point they could cancel all of them, sell renewals with very limited days or whatever they want. Maybe they're tired of our belly-achin'.

Genuine question, does Disney have an obligation to allow someone to renew a specific pass after the year is up? You pay for a year, and in a years time passes could change, be discontinued, etc.

Isn't this the case with any sort of annual membership anywhere?

Is this really a story?

It’s a story because I don’t ever remember renewal not being an option (pandemic notwithstanding). I would think Disney could easily kill these off , of course there would be a huge fan blowback especially on the left coast

I think it's more so the precedent being set here, that they unveiled a new program and seem to be sunsetting the higher tiers all within a year of its conception (assuming the top two keys are not renewable). I kind of doubt they will prevent renewals, but I guess we'll see once the first "activators" of these keys have their renewal windows open in ~87 days.

It's so funny. I have a reservation for tomorrow, but I'm burned out on the place, Touring Plans has it as 9/10 for crowds, WOC and fireworks won't have started, and it might rain, so I'm thinking of not going. But try to keep me from renewing my pass and I'm mortified.

Is it really a small subset ?
I would say yes I dont see them selling that many Military Tickets that people took months to redeem then upgrade to a Magic Key. Most people use multi day tickets within a couple of weeks. Magic Keys where not announced until Aug 3 so those that purchased the Military Tickets where not aware until then that there would be an opportunity to upgrade.

Yes ..Maybe some of the tickets that where left over from before the closure that still had days left on them but then not sure what Expiration date they would of given them. I feel though most people used their tickets as soon as they can and didnt wait until August.

Here is why if you do not know Military Salute tickets 3 and 4 day tickets can be redeemed minus a few block out dates until the Salute Period ends which currently is December 2022 and it started in July 2021. Not sure what the previous person Salute period was but they first used the ticket May 1st, 2021 so with a multi day ticket upgrades to Magic Key they start on first day of use. She had the ticket and upgraded sometime after August when Magic Keys went live but still makes her renewal date May 1st. She upgraded to a Beleive Key which now one rep via email is telling her its not renewable. I am still waiting for more info. I know CM via phone/chat/email read from a script and not always have current info on what the parks are actually doing in person. Any other ticket that someone purchased to upgrade would of been used within the 14 day window of when Magic Keys went on sale.

Disneyland did offer California Residents a 3 day promotional ticket starting in July that the guest was able to use any 3 days up to Sept 20th but there was language in the small print that said it was not upgradeable. So I do feel its a Small Subset of Magic Key holders.

Interesting. I’m not sure how much we can take from this though as the vast majority of peoples passes don’t expire until at least August.

It's 10:30P in my time zone so I may not be operating at full cognitive strength right now, but I can't think of why they'd put a freeze on renewals unless they were needing to shrink the overall number of key holders at that level.
