Anyone else just disgusted over Disney Legends picks?

I agree that the Disney Legends awards, as they currently stand, are contrived and hokey, which is why I never bother to attend the ceremonies, and just end up rolling my eyes at most picks. The least they could do is subdivide things a bit so people know which ones barely have anything to do with the company except tangentially. Perhaps use different frames for the physical awards? I think two separate ceremonies, “Hype” (for big celebrities, whoever Disney wants to promote) and “Honor” (people more closely tied to the company but less iconic) would work. I’d watch the “Honor” ceremony for sure. “If Jim Cummings isn’t getting one, I ain’t goin!”

Until recently, it was almost all the latter. Certain figures got them for their front-of-the-camera service, but they were almost always for years of world-class service - Robin Williams for example. Under the old guard and criteria, Anthony Anderson wouldn't have gotten one, but RDJ would have (similar to Kurt Russel).
