the discovery game at MK? I don't even know what it's called, but I always see folks standing in liberty square in front of HM talking to an animated window. I have a 6 year old, he loves the adventure game in AK. Think he would like this one?

I believe you are talking about the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. You can sign up to be an apprentice at the Fire Station on Main Street or behind the Christmas shop in Liberty Square. There are portals in most lands that you can visit.

There is also Agent P's World Showcase Adventure at Epcot and A Pirate’s Adventure in Adventureland at mk. These are also interactive games to play and it is a lot of fun for the whole family.

The game is fun but time consuming. You receive starting cards and a map that helps directs you to the portals. So it will take you all through each land you play. When you discover the portal, there may be others playing ahead of you and you will have to wait for your opening. As you play along you get to higher levels and get more cards. It can be a fun adventure for you & your kid, something new and different to do ... but it does take up time from the rides.

You will see other guests playing along with notebooks full of playing cards. Ask them to let you have a glance at some of their collected cards!! Lots of unique ones.

This sounds like something fun me and my friends could goof off and do to take up time.

My friend Austin and I did the Habit Heroes thing at Innoventions last year.. It was just us two, a kid and his mom. It was hilariously AWESOME!

My son played this a little on our last trip and loved it!! This is one of the things he is looking most forward to next month when we are there. Just a FYI at the 2 places listed above you get free "starter packs" for a quest that will last about 30 to 45 minutes. They have other packs at most of the shops that you can buy to continue the game.

So, would it be ok if we got the collectible cards and didn't really play (maybe a portal or 2)? My 3 year old would LOVE the cards, but I'd rather spend our 2 1/2 days riding rides for her first visit.

You certainly can get the cards and not play the game, you do have to play a portal to get cards on a new day though. It is one of the perks of having a paid admission to the park so you want to take advantage of all of those that you can.

Not many things at MK are "free".
