Any interior pics of the Catwalk Bar?

Sorry for the thread bump, but I was searching for pictures of the Catwalk and wanted to chime in for those who were asking about it.

I visited many times in the mid-late 90s. The only entrance I ever used was the one inside what is now Playhouse Disney. The actual bar and seating area were fully inside of that building and had no outside windows - those beautiful pictures above of the view were from the bathroom area that also served Brown Derby (if I recall correctly).

The bar itself was on the catwalk and had a few tables, about 8-12 seats at the actual bar and was nestled among a number of cages full of props from shows and movies. There were a couple bookcases that contained a number of board games (mainly classics) and all the tables and chairs were mismatched (again from old shows and movies).

The bar served a variety of micro-brew bottles long before that was the 'in' thing to do. It was where I had my first Fin Du Monde back in 94 and my liver has been heading downhill ever since. I certainly credit the Catwalk Bar with turning me into a beer....um....enthusiast.

It was extremely relaxing and sort-of fun to watch the people downstairs at the character meal that was there (I remember watching the Genie and Jafar from above quite a bit).

Enough nostalgia. I'm going to have to look through some old boxes and try to track down a picture or two.

The elevator was how we always got in. The bar was never busy which is why it probably closed. Well really they closed it when they started the show below.

One of my favorite places to relax, I could sit there all day and watch the ed off fathers while the mother says 'junior wants chicken tenders, fries and soda' and think to my self never in a million years. So much for that thought! I want to go back without the wife and kids!!! Well at least without the kids, LOL!!!!!!!

Nice find. Where did those bright overhead lights come from? Is that from the very early or very late days of the Catwalk? I only remember pretty subdued lighting. Or perhaps my vision was just hazy enough to make it seem that way.

I went through quite a few old pictures and couldn't come up with anything. Oh well. Maybe do some more digging in the basement....

Loved this place

This was always my favorite place at DHS (or should I say DMGM) to take a break from the crowds and just people watch. I was bummed when they closed it.

I know this is an old thread but I just thought I would let everyone know that there was an entrance through soundstage as well as the stairs and elevator near brown derby, I used to work at soundstage from 92-95

Thanks for sharing that blog. It looks like a lot of the research came from this discussion! I finally dug out a lot of our mid-1990s pictures and momentos, but, alas no pics of the Catwalk. Lots of memories, though!

LOL, especially since they used the aerial photo with the red circle that I created specifically for this discussion thread, I'd say so... ;)

Rob, thanks for the photo by the way! We couldn't find a better one to show where the entrance is from a good angle. If you would like we can give you credit for the pic on the article. Message me if so. Thanks!

Sorry to bump this old thread but I was in this area a couple of weeks ago. The upstairs Brown Derby area is just used as cast member restrooms now and the Catwalk Bar area is just used for storage. There is an old disused dusty kitchen up there too.

Working up there or just paying a sneaky visit? I would gladly hang out in storage and make myself a snack in the dusty kitchen.

Quite a bump, but for a fun thread. I spent quite a bit of time here in the mid-90s. Mostly when the restaurant downstairs was an Aladdin character meal. In addition to the main entrance via the Brown Derby lobby pictured earlier, there was a stairway along the shared wall with what is now Playhouse Disney that led down to the Aladdin restaurant. At the first stair landing, there was a display with Genie's lamp. You could rub it for some sound effects and projection fun. Most of what I have is old home video I think. If I can dig up a photo or three, I'll post it.
