Anyone think that Animal Kingdom is gaining more respect than is was when it opened?

I think that with the openeing of Everest, it may lure more people there to experience what makes AK special.

As with any park in the universe, when a BIG coaster opens, of course it will attract more people. The only perception that people who have never experienced AK, is that it is just a big Disney version of a zoo. Once that perception is shed, I think AK will get the attention it deserves.

I can speak from personal experience, that the first time I wen to AK, i wasn't that impressed. But the last trip I made was great. I relaxed and took in the atmosphere, and loved it.

I have always been a cheerleader () for AK. It is a great park! But I do understand that it is not for everyone. Everest will help make it more appealing for the group of people that do not enjoy AK as much.

It takes time

Animal Kingdom is one of those parks that grows on you. I like most, did not care for it the first time. With an extended vacation a year later, taking the time to just sit and notice all of the little details and intricacies made it all worthwhile.

In time, DAK will have its own fanbase (but I'll always have my Epcot Center!).

I don't think it is gaining much ground just yet. I'm not going to knock it, because that is not what I am about, but when we come down in April, we are not going to make AK part of the trip, and it was my 4 teen and almost-teen kids who gave it the thumbs down in favor of another park.

Everest will help, I'm sure.

There is no other park at wdw that comes close to AK and its potential...put that together will all the space they have for expansion and you've got one awesome park now...and and even better park in the future...

Can you tell its my favorite park?! :lookaroun

I think the park definitely has some great potential. It is not my favorite park out of all 4 but I would not dare miss it on a trip to WDW. I still love it for its beauty.

i HATED MGM my first couple of trips, but it's ok now. so i'm expecting the same to happen for AK. i've never hated the place (so there's a plus)...i mean, how could anyone hate it? it's too beautiful! but i think as they expand it will get better. EE will definately give it the boost it's been needing for a while.

I love Animal Kingdom, and I wish more people would give it a chance. People just run through looking for rides. If they would like stop for like just a minute, they could see the amazing detail that is present.

Happy to say we finally went, last March, and loved it. A little something for everyone.

I even liked it when it was called Budch Gardens...

I think that my facecious response may have a lot of truth to it though. AK is a combo of these other nature parks and WDW did take vetrinarians and trainers alike from these places to AK. So, many people may feel they've seen it before. By the way, I love it!

I LOVE Animal Kingdom...its certianly one of my Favorite Disney Parks. I definitely prefer it over MGM. There needs to be a sign at the entrance telliing people to chill and slow down in Animal Kingdom....Its meant to be enjoyed at a more leisurely pace!

Heading for the great escape.
Being the only park I have seen develop since opening (the others were all open by our 1st trip) Its been fun watching the hype versus reality, the criticism versus praise.

The park does need one or two major attractions but guests need to adjust their usual high pace to get the most from the themeing and atmosphere.

Bring back the boats!!

I think most of my friends (non-WDW visionaries) perceive AK as a waste of a day. They do not know any better, so I forgive them and I pray for them so they will not be cast into the darker realms of a terrible and painful hell. They will change their mind when Everest pops up and the rest of the park fills in. But there is no park that matches the beauty of AK.

I hope you all are right. My family skipped AK when we went in August but I'm going the end of next week for a week so I'll give it a chance. I'll just take it at a slow pace and suck in all it has to offer.

The AK is my 2nd favorite park, after EPCOT.

If a good portion of visitors are going to lowbrow it and as a result cut down on the number of people we have to walk around and wait in lines with, then that's fine with me. All the more enjoyment for those of us who enjoy it for what it is.

I don't think EE will increase the number of guests because its only one attraction. The same people who have been to AK and complain that there aren't any thrill rides and only see Countdown(no i won't call it dinosaur) as the only thing to do will simply try out Everest and then leave the park. If they don't like the rest of the park now, their opinions aren't going to change because of a single attraction being added. They'll just do that and then leave.
