Animal Kingdom Lodge Room Requests

Hi All,

We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for my 35th birthday on June 8th. We saved up for a while to take the family to WDW for the two days and a DCL Cruise. We only had a resort view room in our budget, however my kids are 4 and almost 2. Ive seen people talk about making room requests via phone a few weeks before and asking for Obstructed Savannah, close to lobby and 3rd floor.

I wanted to get your oppinion on how I should go about it. Should i call and make the request and then do online check in to the roll the dice? Or should I wait until we get there to check in (We get in around 730am from California) and see if they would maybe sprinkle some pixie dust and provide an upgrade as it is on my actual birthday? Any input appreciated!

Make the request in advance. And at the same time ask them to add your celebration to the reservation notes.

Do on-line check-in but do not select anything for the room request on there - or it will override the earlier request.

Don’t get your hopes up for an upgrade. You can ask but the chances are that they will simply tell you the cost of it! Upgrades usually happen because there is a need on their end - a room being taken out of service etc.

As far ahead as you can. At least a couple of weeks and more if possible. But you can make a request as soon as you book.

I don’t know, I’ve only stayed at Kidani. But if that’s what you want then try.

Thanks Nickys, I appreciate your help. Also, how did you find the bus system? I know the location stuff but were they really crowded or infrequent.

I think the answer to that depends on whether you’re used to public buses. I use them all the time at home (U.K.) and find the buses fine. Others vow never to use them.

Ironically the longest wait we had was at Animal Kingdom waiting for a bus back to AKL. For some reason it just never arrived, probably 30/35 minutes. Other than that they were frequent, but we didn’t try for rope drop.
