Animal Kigdom Lodge -v- Wilderness Lodge

Hi all

What delux resort do you prefer and why? Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge?

I would love to hear your views and all your experiences of both resorts

WL. They are very similar looking but WL is close to MK and has a convenient boat to get there. Plus when you take a bus to the other parks, you are picked up and dropped off first. I was very put-off by the fact that Kidani Village is picked up and dropped off first to all four parks from AKL. It makes problematic bus service due to being far from everywhere but DAK even worse as buses often arrive full at Jambo. Animals are awesome but you can see them at DAK and at least in January, the animals aren't even out before the parks open and you can't see most of them after dark. I'd take WL with its better location and transportation, prettier grounds and lake-front location, and more common-sense set-up where you can get to the counter service without exiting the main building and using an elevator.

WL has the better transportation. I also have lots of love for AKL but WL is more convienent. We loved having a boat service and being able to head to MK quickly. WL is also smaller which makes heading for a snack or to the pool a much easier trip.

HollyAD and ISTCNavigator57 pretty much took the words right out of my mouth! I do love the environment at AK, but also loved the ease of riding the boat to MK. It really depends on what location you like better and what environment.

I've never stayed at WL, but we stayed at AKL last year and did not like it at all. As others have mentioned the bus service is a turn off. We ended up taking a taxi on four different occasions. My husband waiting over 45 minutes at DTD before he gave up and took a cab back.

It is particularly awful. I've never been one to complain about bus service until I stayed in Jambo. The number of times (in mid January) that a bus took 30+ minutes to arrive SRO from Kidani was a bit much for my liking. Certainly more than I've experienced at any other resort. AKL is more of a "visit once every few trips to eat at Boma and check out the resort" place for me. It is beautiful, just not somewhere I'm eager to spend a week at again. After a day or two, any resort largely becomes your bed and the awe you initially felt at the beauty of the place dissipates and you are left focusing on convenience and comfort.
