I've seen it on the news last year. Its basically a tourist attraction. No rides but there is a very religious theme to it. According to the news, the people who run it are just trying to covert more people to christianity.:fork:

I went... ONCE, and never again. That place sucks. I'm christian, and I felt the whole place was an insult.

A friend of mine, very religious, who travels top Florida regularly because he has a daughter and grandkids living in Tampa encouraged my wife and I to go to this place on our upcoming vacation in...Good God almighty, 6 more days!:sohappy:

The description I got for this park reminded me of places like the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia, which is basically a reinactment/living museum. Granted, Jamestown is supposed to be on or near the actual location of the storied early European colonization settlement, so it bears a little more logic for its existence than this Holyland place.

From what I was told, don't expect rides. Mostly "shop keeps" and actors doing kind of spontaneous shows using some scripture when applicable. And it's all Christian based.

Didn't sound like they were trying to convert people, but it did sound like it was for the Falwell/Jim Bakker followers...not that I'm saying that fans of these guys are bad.

Needless to say, intriguing as this Holyland place sounds, we're opting to pass it up on this trip. But that's mainly because we're planning to run ourselves into the ground at WDW.

Afterall, I'm only Mr. "Disneynutcase" with a wife, two kids, a niece, a nephew, two grandparents, and bro/sister in law who bear the same alleged last name.:D

It is really there so people in the area will go and spend 30+ bucks to get in and go to the gift shop. It is your regular basic tourist trap. And the Area Traveler Information Radio plugs them so much it's ridiculous.

The park owner by the way is actualy technicaly a Jew and not a Christian. I dont remember the term, but he's one of those "Jews for Jesus" people, which as I understand it kinda defeats the whole purpouse of being a Jew. And from what I've seen, going to the place defeats the whole purpouse of "having fun".
