AMC Theater Remodel

Am I the only one that genuinely doesn’t mind the theater the way it is? 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m quite disappointed to be losing a few screens to Dine In and the concessions and restrooms have never bothered me.

We have a cinepolis near us and hoo it's beautiful. It goes completely dark but still has a full dine in menu for those who care. My experiences with AMC dine in at DS were all pretty terrible, but I suppose a certain amount of bad behavior should be expected at any tourist-y dinner-like atmosphere. But the Dolby theatre....there is no other theatre for us for any Marvel or Star Wars movie. Nothing we've been in can compare to it. It is one of those things that changes how you see and hear movies anywhere else. Would I go there for a rom-com? No. But will I stay up all night refreshing fandango until Avengers tickets go on sale? Absolutely.

Does work start tomorrow? Based on the sudden changes in the schedule after today I assume at least a few theaters will be taken down tomorrow.

I just looked on Fandango and they are showing pretty much the same number of showings tomorrow as today.

I think construction started today. Quite a few movies that were playing this weekend aren’t playing today (The Favourite as an example as I saw it here on Saturday). Very excited for some upgrafes here...I mean the West Oaks AMC remodel was great and it’s at the West Oaks Mall.

Non confirmed yet but I've been told that screens 16, 17, and 18 on the main side are closed, with at least 17 and 18 likely to be converted to Dine In. Plus screens 19 and 20 on the Dine In are either closed already or will be within the next week.

And the West Oaks AMC is super cheap too. It’ll take a lot for me to stop going there or the Cinemark near the Outlets.

Yeah, there were 104 showtimes on Sunday and then only 79 starting on Monday. I assume that’s when at least a few theaters were taken down for construction.

Yes. You are on your own on this one.

They're moving pretty swiftly on this. I wonder what the turnover will be for the theaters they've got down now. If they're not doing any heavy demo work, just fixtures and soft items replacement, it could be very quick. On the ones being converted to Dine there may have to be some greater work done. Even then, the total conversion for the Dolby wasn't very long.

So I was just there tonight and theaters 15-18 are blocked/walled off on the non dine in side.
I was there on Wednesday and noticed only 4 movies playing on the dine in side so I'm guessing a few of those are closed as well. If those are involved I can only assume they are expanding the kitchen and turning more auditoriums into dine in.

I was there last night and noticed the walls up in the theater around the construction indicate an opening not until the summer. Figured it’d be open sooner than that must be a bigger project then just installing recliners.

If they are doing the rest of the auditoriums in stages it could mean everything completed for summer. If it's just the ones that are down now then there is some major work going on.

I mean I am a little disappointed that the remodel doesn't extend to the exterior, it's still a little too much Downtown Disney for my liking.
Yeah I totally agree. Doesn’t really fit in any longer and kinda stands out. Wouldn’t be surprised if the exterior gets redone one of these days though

Bowling was big during the heyday of that style. Obviously one of the first proprietors of the reimagined industrial town of Disney Springs was Splitsville. Not sure about the actual backstory. Just made that up.

Fixed.
