Well, everyone. The moment I've been waiting for has finally arrived. Finally, this evening, on my commute home, I saw that the caution tape and dumpster in front of The Alpine Inn have been removed after more than a year and the motel seems to have been reopened. I didn't take any photos since I was driving and that's dangerous, but I can confirm that this charming motel has emerged from the Pandemic and is ready to receive you.

Anyone stayed here? How are the rooms? We have a room booked at the Desert Palms next door for our June DL trip. Rates are comparable to slightly lower at Alpine.

Alpine Inn has two big advantages over the Desert Palms. It's got a charming exterior and it's not directly next to the 7 Eleven and hobo bus station at Harbor and Katella.

I'm curious about the Family Suite they advertise on their website. I haven't been able to find a floorplan or video of it.

"Spread out in these 420 sq. ft. two bedroom suites. Our suites sleep up to six in three deluxe queen beds and include microwave, mini-fridge, a coffee/tea maker, free Wi-Fi, cable with premium channels and bathrooms with shower/tub combos."

Edit: Is that two-bedroom and a living area, or something more like Embassy Suites with one bedroom and a living area. Given it says it sleeps up to six I would lean toward the former, but based on the picture it could be two queens in the main room and one bedroom with another queen. No likey.

This is the best news I have heard all week.

This, plus the fact I heard a couple of days ago that the requirement to get a 'Real ID' to fly has now been pushed back for another two years.

YEeessss!!!

Lookout Alpine, I'm comin' 'home'.....!

What? I spent half a day at the dmv like two years ago because they said I needed it... Now.

Whelp, thanks to the Covid Apocalypse, folks who still don't have a 'Real ID' to travel via airplane have another two years to acquire one.
The date was extended yet again last week, and you now have until May 2023 to get one.

This news made me quite happy.
Now i can book the rest of my planned visit without sweating over if i will be able to get one in time for the trip !
Woo !!
