All Star Resorts

Hi everyone,

Quick question about the All Star Resorts.....how are they? I'm taking my mom back for our 6th trip next May and want to stay on property. We are going for 10days so I don't want to have to give my right arm to stay on site. What were your experiences like staying at the All-Star resorts? Also, where are they located exactly? Any info would be super helpful. Thanks! :sohappy:

I stayed at Music last August and will be at Movies in October. They are perfectly fine. The rooms are not huge but last year we fit 4 adults in our room without problem and really only used it to sleep and shower. The idea I got out of the 3 hotels (theme wise) is that Music seems to be geared more towards adults, Movies towards young children, and Sports to teens and young adults. There are no restaurnats here only a food court but you can get a wide variety of food at them. The location is very close to Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. We had no major problem with the buses either they are just crowded if you stay at a park until closing. We had a good experience last year so thought we'd try again this year.

Hi!, We stayed at all star movies last February and loved it. We cannot afford to stayed at the higher priced Disney resorts and were not disappointed with this choice at all. The rooms really aren't that small. There were 4 of us, 2 adults, 1 teenager, and a 4 year old and we fit just fine. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and the Disney magic was all around you with the giant movie icons. We liked it and are going back in February 2006 but this time we are going to try Pop Century, only because we've never stayed there. I personally liked the value resort and would recommend it.

I must agree with everyone so far... My family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed in All-Star Movies in 2000, and enjoyed the entire experience. I personally liked the food court, even though at peak meal times, it was a little crowded.
TIP: Go ahead and purchase refillable mugs for soft drinks.

I can't add much that hasn't been said already, but I stay there every time I go, and I've been to a couple of the more expensive ones too. The All Star resorts are awesome. My only suggestion would be to look at a map, and request a building close to the bus stop. If you're going for 10 days, you don't need the extra walking distance at the hotel ;) I always like to get a room where I can see the bus stop from the window... That way, when everyone but me is inevitably running late, I can tell them "don't rush, we just missed the first bus".

I have only been to All-Star Movies, but it has the largest eatery of all 3 of the All-Stars and it's quite wonderful. All the rooms are close to the pool (even tho they told us that Toy Story was the farthest from the pool, it was a very very short walk). I've read that the rooms are smaller than others, but personally they look bigger since the furniture in the rooms aren't huge such as in Wilderness Lodge. THe only thing I don't like about All-Star is that the only mode of transportation is the bus.. and I hate taking the bus. You waste more time waiting for the bus and on the bus then the time you could be spending at MK or something. Either way All-Star is great!! We've stayed at ASM 2 times now and are going back for our 3rd time in Feb. 06.

We've stayed at each of the All Star resorts. They all have large food courts and a good varity. The food courts can get crowded but even with a family of six we never had to wait for a table. My wife likes Movies but I prefer Sports. Sports is the first hotel on the bus routes & I think you have a better chance of getting a seat. All three have good gift shops and two pools. The only down side is they are big. If you don't want to be a long way from the food court & bus stops make sure you get a resort map & request a room in a building close to the main lobby. I believe the All Stars are the best value in the WDW area.

I have stayed at many of the hotels on Disney property, value moderate and deluxe and let me tell ya...All Star is the way to go. I loved the other hotels I stayed at, they were beautiful and their ammenities can't be beat. However you want ammenities when you are going to a beach somewhere and are really going to use your room, not when you are in Disneyand out and about(IMO). And this is only my opinion, value resorts are not for everyone, but when you are taking a family or you don't want to pay a large amount to sleep and shower, value is the way to go.

The rooms are cute and decent sized. The food court is nice, a lot of different stuff to eat and their gift shops are cute. Their pools are nice and big. I have stayed at All Star 7 times, I have tried different ones at different times of year and I like Sports the best. Except for when there are cheerleading teams and bands etc visiting WDW Sports is typically the less busy of the three. I have noticed bus lines are shorter for Sports and the food court is not as busy as the others. When checking in I always check in right away, I have had to wait in long lines for Movies and Music (more kids too!!!).

And at the end of the night it doesn't matter if you are staying in the most expensive hotel on property, lines for the bus and other modes of transportation are PACKED. Doesn't matter about the hotel.

Hope this helps! Have fun!

Another thumbs up:D for the All Stars! I have only stayed at the movies once and will be their again in October. They were just right for my family of 4 and being in the middle of the magic is something special. This next trip I am going to try to visit the other All Star resorts just to get a look and feel of them, but I think the movies will still be my favorite!

i stayed at the all star sports resort in may 2005 and i really enjoyed it. it was my first time staying at a disney resort.

here is some info to help you:

- the resort is in the animal kingdom area.

- you can see search lights in the sky (i think they are from MGM).

- each resort is themed.

- the all star resorts are in the same catagory as each other; as in bus stops for example when in epcot the bus for the all star resorts is the same number.

- all star sports is more than likely to be the first stop on the bus route.

- the all star resorts and pop century are classed as value resorts therefore they dont have a fridge in the room (thats extra), a coffee or tea maker.

- all are perfectly themed

- all star sports has 2 themed pools

- each resort has an arcade, a themed shop, food court, restrooms, laundry room, poolside bar.

- there are lifeguards stationed at the pools at certain times of the day.

We just returned from our week long trip and stayed at the Pop Century. This was the first time we have stayed on Disney property, and will not have any hesitation to stay at the Pop Century on our next visit. The staff was friendly, and helpful from looking up a phone number for us, to making dining reservations in the morning for that evening. We stayed in the 50's area, in building #1, which was a great location as we were right next to the food court, bus stops, and the pool. The food court had everything you could imagine, and was pretty good. There is a store next to the food court with everything you would need, including buying a new swimsuit for our 9 year old son because his was left at home! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone!

Hi!

We have stayed at the All Star Movies resort twice now and have really enjoyed it.

It was our first experience of staying "on property" after several stays on International Drive.

It is so much nicer to be on property - the ability to come and go as we please, complimentary transport (we found the busses to be great!) and all the parks are a few minutes away!

It was also nice to get back to the room at the end of the night after a long day at the parks, to switch on the tv for the Disney Resort channel :animwink:

We will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge next year as a one off, as it is our honeymoon - we will be back at the All Stars again at a later date no doubt!

One thing that needs to be mentioned though.. the refillable mugs! They are a lot smaller than you expect! They only hold about as much as a can of cola, so plan on making multiple trips between the room and the food court!

You will see a procession of guests walking between the two areas holding several mugs in their hands - why cant they have drink machines located closer to the rooms? Esp. The Mighty Ducks end of the resort.

The All Star resort is massive also - I went for a walk one time, from our room at the Movies resort, to the Sport and Music resorts. I walked over the car parks, and it must have taken 30 minutes to reach the All Star Sports! I filled up with Gatorade from the food court when I got there (which was not available at the movies resort).

Also the food court can get very busy indeed! Some days we passed on breakfast altogether and got a pretzel from the parks!:slurp:

My family and I have stayed at the All-Star resorts 4 times(2 times in Sports and 2 times in movies). We have also stayed off-site and I have to say that the All-Star is a great resort. Just a word of warning ; sports tends to be VERY crowded with teens on school trips. We have stayed there when the cheerleaders were there(annoying as hell due to very early morning practice) and we stayed there when girls softball teams were there. Just think of it as dozens of MINIMALLY supervised high school girls running around loose!
All-Star Movies was great especially for those with little ones. My toddler loved the kiddie pool and the gigantic Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
Have a great time!

I was there in May 2000 just after the Toy Story buildings opened at AS: Movies. The site is very well done. I saw someone said it is slightly geared toward kids. I'm a kid at heart and loved it. We stayed in the Love Bug building #1 (6372 - ground floor in the rear near the parking lot looking over at AS: Music). The room is like a standard off prpoperty low range hotel. the beds were big enough to fit my ex and me in one with comfort. The theming through out is great. The food in the Food Court was great, the gift shop was well stocked. If you in the mood for different fast food, just walk to the gate for the area and just outside is a McDonald's in the shape of the old Happy Meal box with info aboutthe Happy Meal inbedded in the walkway. I would tell you to stay there for an inexpensive place on property.
