AKL Room Location & Transportation

First stay at AKL - "Club Level - Standard - Savannah View." Traveling with 2 adult children and requested bunk beds. Will request again when checking in online. Should we request a certain area/location for the room? Would prefer not to be "15 minutes" from everything. Don't mind a walk, but shorter is always nicer. Also, any advice for transportation to parks? We will be using WDW transportation, but would like to be at rope drop at least once for each park (9 night stay). Thanks for any advice, suggestions and general help!

If you want to get to the parks quick, you can always rent a car, but you won't have any problem getting to the parks before rope drop with Disney transportation!

You'll LOVE the room! Club level is all on the higher floors, but you shouldn't have a problem, AKL isn't the sprawling resort Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans is. I'll see if I can come up with a room, but I wouldn't be concerned

If you're staying at Jambo house and want to make it to the parks for a specific time I would either go down to the buses really early or take a cab. The buses stop at Kidani Village first so more often than not the buses are full and only a hand full of people can get on. This was our experience last November. During a 4 night stay we took a cab 5 times (my husband waited over 45 mins at DTD and a bus never showed up). However this all could have just been bad luck!!
We stayed on the top floor with a savannah view and didn't find the distance to the bus depot to be bad.

Thank you both for the responses. We are actually driving to Orlando, so will have a car if necessary. Guess we will have to wait and see how the buses load or maybe even walk to Kidani to catch the bus there :)

I've never had any more problems with buses at AKL than I have had at any other resort. If you travel at peak times, then yes, the buses will be crowded. But waiting at 7:45-8 for a 9 AM rope drop rarely causes me an issue. Yes, MK takes a few minutes longer, but if I recall correctly, the Unofficial Guide travel times only work out to maybe 4-5 minutes longer to go to/from all 4 parks once (so 1 day at each park) from AKL than from most of the other resorts.

You are going to LOVE their concierge level. The staff is great and the lounge overlooks the lobby. I've stayed there on concierge numerous times and my absolute favorite time is during the holidays (prime tree viewing from there) Ask to be located close to the lounge since the elevators are right there. You should be ok with the transportation but I would go with the earliest bus you can get since it is a bit of a ride to get to MK from there. They start running at 8 unless it's EMH. Or take a taxi to the Contemporary nice and early and walk over to the MK from there.

Have a wonderful time!!!
