Akershus or Cinderella's Royal Table?

I wouldn't mind doing the Akershus breakfast, since Epcot is my favorite park! I think that the only thing holding us back is that we've never had that extra TS credit available and we REFUSE to give up our San Angel Inn dinner. :)

Not to mention, it would have to be breakfast because we are simple in our tastes and the menus for lunch and dinner didn't meet everyone's demands.

I'm not sure which princess you are looking for...I almost get the feeling you are looking for Ariel from your original post. If that is the case then do the Akershus because then you are pretty much guaranteed Ariel. You are not certain to get her at the Castle... If you want he best food and a princess then to the 1900 park fare, it has the best food and you still get Cinderella, Prince Charming, the step sisters and the step mother.... the Castle is also not going to give your kid much time with Cinderella, the only interaction will be them posing with the kid for a quick photo and then pushed along for the next one, no table chat with her. Food wise the Castle is the worst food in the entire park... even worse when you factor in the price.... honestly it is only something you want to do once if you want to eat in the Castle, but that's it.

I have not been to Akershus, but I adore CRT. You start off in the castle foyer, where you meet Cinderella. Then you're escorted up a winding staircase past stained glass windows, and finally up into the dining room. And need I remind everyone that it's inside the castle? On the second floor, with an entire wall of stained glass windows to look out at Fantasyland through!

Children get wishing stars and magic wands for girls, swords for boys (although they can choose either if they wish). Princesses rotate throughout your meal, and every so often, there's a little show where an announcer tells the children to hold their wishing stars and wave their wands/swords and say bibbidi bobbidi boo. The whole restaurant sparkles and everyone gets to make a wish. I've seen Fairy Godmother during the show sometimes, but sometimes not.

I can't speak as to which princesses will be there, because it depends. Last time I went, Ariel and Jasmine were there, but Jasmine is apparently rare. Aurora and Snow are pretty much always there. Cinderella is always, always there. Rapunzel, Tiana, Pocahontas, and Mulan are never there.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but at CRT, you don't get princesses at dinner -- just the photo with Cinderella (the Fairy Godmother and some mice host the dinner). At Akershus, it's all princesses, all the time.

a few years ago that was correct but not anymore. as for choosing one over the other if you've never eaten inside the castle that's an experience in and of itself ...a bucket list item kind of thing. the food (imo) is better at askerus and you still get to meet the princesses. at crt you get pics with cindy before going in to eat but at askerus the pics are with belle (both are part of what you're paying for in your cost of the meal).

Princesses vary I believe at both places. The food to me is more appealing, but of course more expensive at CRT ( 2 TS credits on DDP). Norwegian food is not my favorite, but the breakfast may be ok.

During our trip this past fall we ate breakfast at Akershus and lunch at Cindy's. Both experiences and meals were great. (I second the previous recommendation for the short ribs at Cindy's)

At Cindy's, as mentioned in previous posts, the kids can partake in a "wand ceremony". At Akershus the children can get up from there seats and a parade around the dining hall along with the princesses.

With our experience Ariel was at both restaurants.

To add a bit of extra flare might I recommend an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique located right outside of Cindy's for your daughter(s) prior to enjoying your meal.

Also, a lesser known recommendation (which I only found thanks to our friends here at wdwmagic) is you can contact the Disney cake people and (for a slightly extra cost) order a "Cinderella's slipper dessert" which can be brought to your table. This can only be done at Park Fare and Cindy's (from last I checked). It's either a white or dark chocolate slipper filled with chocolate mousse which sits atop a sponge cake and is surrounded with various berries. As an added touch you can ask the cake peeps to write a chocolate message on the plate. ie for my daughter we had the plate inscribed "Princess Asia". When Jasmine stopped by our table she took notice and it led to an unforgettable exchange between her and my daughter.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with either choice.

If I get to "Cinderella's Royal Table" and no Cinderella we will be very discouraged... :(

I will correct you. ;) We were there a year ago and you get an audience with Cinderella in the downstairs throne room pictures and autographs. Then you go upstairs to the dining room, in the dining room there are 4 princesses who rotate the tables. There is also a special wishing ceremony and all the girls get magic wands and the boys get swords.

Do want to point out that Cinderella is ONLY downstairs and is NOT part of the group of 4 upstairs that meets and greet at you table. You will get ample time with Cindy before you go up for the meal.

Apologizing in advance in case this question has been posed somewhere else, but I was just wondering for those of you who have eaten at the two restaurants, which one do you prefer? Also, on the website it says that Ariel is one of the possible princesses featured at both. For those of you that have eaten at either is she usually there? And are the princesses only at breakfast or other meals too? I've never done a princess character meal before, so I'm just interested in your opinions on it. Thank you :)

They are both good for breakfast! Askerhaus is 1 TS credit and Cindy's is 2. If you have never been, I would say you have to go to Cindy's at least once. Both are great and Askerhaus is a better value. Ariel was at CRT breakfast last Christmas (week before).

My only question is how long ago was your visit. We had the misfortune of doing it twice, once for each daughter as they got old enough to want to do it... The wand and wishing star for the first daughter was actually cool, the star had embedded LED lights that would twinkle, the wand looked like it was created by hand using beads... Sadly by the time out next daughter did it the star was replaced with a cheap plastic token with no lights and the wand looked like something I would have been ashamed to sell in a dollar store.

Granted you wont get anything at the Akershus, although you will get much better food than in the castle.

I'm not a huge fan of the food at Norway, but our kids love meeting the princesses, especially our daughter (7). We had a fantastic breakfast at CRT this morning (my wife and I loved the filet and eggs). Was never a fan of the food there either, but today it was awesome. The princesses were great too, especially Ariel

these pics were from our dinner at askerus aug 2012. we've had breakfast there as well. we've also done dinner and a breakfast at crt. i found the two morning meals pretty much interchangeable at crt and askerus to be honest. dinner, imo, was better at askerus. we hadn't booked there for a dinner before also worrying we wouldn't like food from norway but honestly there were a few dishes on the menu that were more adventurous but we just chose not to go that route. my daughter had a salmon dish and i had the chicken and both turned out to be some of the best tasting food we had that whole trip...i was totally surprised. the pics aren't the best but it may help you decide.

I was just debating this last night. I am taking my god-daughter for her first trip in November and I want her to have a meal with the Princesses and I am really leaning towards the breakfast at Akershus. My cousins just went there and they loved it! I think that will be my choice. I am not crazy about CRT at all, since I have been to that one.
