With a workforce of 62,000 at WDW, 125 being laid off isn't a large number. Personally tragic for those impacted, but for the other 99.98% of the employees work continues.
Think its quite a lot more than 125

That article indicated what had happened on that specific day - the layoffs continued Friday-Tuesday. I think it was intentionally misleading to get buried in the news cycle.
You can’t make this up. Employee milestone I didn’t get laid off!!

This is about people being laid off....
While there are layoffs happening among management, a large number of those with service milestones are front-line cast or low-level managers who make literally no money because they love what they do. Cutting a service celebration like this would be a big blow. It's one of the few benefits that make them feel truly appreciated.
