Adults with no kids character dining?

Just recently found this forum my wife and I are making our first trip to Disney later this year, and we are wondering about the character dining. We have booked Ohana and Cinderella’s Royal Table so far, with Ohana being the one we are most excited about because we love Stitch.

My question is about characters interacting and posing for pictures with adults with no children. My question is simply do they take the time to visit with the adults for these opportunities or do they focus on the children and kind of leave the adults hanging by the way side for the most part?

Any information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to reading, and posting more on the forums. Thanks again :)

My husband and I do character dining, as well as meet and greets, every time we go. Just know characters are only at 'Ohana during breakfast. Dinner is character free. From my experience, the characters really take their cue from the adults. We've had them interact with us a lot during our meals. When we had breakfast at Akershus and didn't have time for the characters that day, we only said hello and told them to focus on the kids at the table next to us.

Why not? My DW and usually do a character meal every trip. Of course we also get our picture taken with Santa at the mall and I am A retired Amy officer in my 60's.

BTDT. Accidentally, anyway. Went to what we thought was a regular breakfast buffet, and then the chipmunks, bears and a ratty looking racoon showed up.

It was painful at first, since we were early and one of the only targets for the characters, but after a while, more people showed up and they left us more or less alone.

I think you will find that you will be treated no differently than those with kids. I think you will have an awesome time. We always do character dining and we are 2 adults. We occasionally have a niece or nephew with us but that is rare. I have even done character dining by myself. You two go and have fun. Don’t give a second thought to being just adults. Go and be kids again yourselves! WDW is the best place to let the kid at heart out! Pose for pics with the characters and interact with them and you’ll have the time of your lives. Have a great trip!

After the kids left the nest and we became AP holders from Chicago, we go often and we have done character dining. You are definitely treated no differently than kids are, because, after all, if you are there, you are a kid at heart!

Is it best to purchase the Memory Maker for photos at character experiences? We've never done a character spot visit or character meal, but are thinking about it. Just didn't know if the Memory Maker is a "must have" at either meals or the meet and greet park locations.

The photographers will take pictures with your camera/phone if you ask. My experience is that many of the pictures come out great. You just won't be able to get any of the "magically enhanced" shots.

My sister and I, both senior citizens, do both Crystal Palace and Garden Grill, and the characters always spend some quality time with us. What helps is I keep my camera on the table, so they see we are interested, and we keep an eye out for characters approaching and wave to them, huge smiles on our faces. We always enjoy it.

My DW and I did several character meals w/o kids. The characters won't skip over your table unless you indicate to them that you don't want them to stop. I do find they spend more time now that our DS is there, but that may just be because he is over the moon jumping out of his seat giving them huge hugs and such.

There are no photographers at character dining. Some locations do have photo opportunities pre-meal, but nothing during the meal. Sometimes there are character handlers in the restaurant (depends on the location) but it's not always a one to one relation like at M&G locations, so you may need to either do selfies, or ask your waiter/waitress or another guest to do a full guest picture.
