Pre-Trip A Very Merry Disneymoon Pre-Trip Report!

Hello, hello! Long time lurker, seldom poster here! My name's Santina and I've been away from Disney World for ... 3 months :bawling: This upcoming trip will be my third this year. I went in June with my cousin, read the pre-trip report here, as a last-minute trip and then went again on another unplanned trip with my brother and mom in July/August! This trip however has been planned for quite some time so let's dig in!

Who: Myself and my wonderful fiancé, soon to be husband Dillon! This picture is from our trip last December to see the Osborne lights one last time. Unfortunately I had emergency surgery 1.5 weeks before our trip but I was still able to go! (I just felt dead, lol)

When: Originally December 15 - December 23, but now December 14 - December 23

Where: Bay Lake Tower, the Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom Lodge (there's a story!)

Why: We're getting married!! After 7.5 years of dating, we're finally tying the knot on December 10, 2016. It's only fitting that our honeymoon include Disney World as we love it so much so we'll be cruising around the Bahamas from December 11-14 and then coming home where we belong :inlove:

A little bit about us. Dillon and I are long-time Disney lovers. I've been going with my family since I was 8 years old and probably have 20+ trips in the books. Dillon also went to Disney as a child, just not as frequently! We've been to Disney together 5 times (I take a lot of trips without him ) and we just bought into DVC earlier this year! We have this trip planned as well as one in May but that might be it for a year or so . I'm a grad student and will be going on a year-long internship next year and whether or not I get vacation time will depend upon where I get an internship at. Sooo we may very well not be going back to Disney until mid-to-late 2018, which makes me sad so this one will be great!

Stay tuned for our plans!

Congrats and welcome home! What is your home resort?

We have some overlap with our trip. We will be at Kidani from 12/18-12/23. AKL is so beautiful during Christmas.

Thank you!! Our home resort is AKL - Kidani! We'll be in Jambo House this trip and I can't wait to see it with the decorations!

Whew, very busy week/weekend! Sorry for the delay in updating :D Of course there was Thanksgiving, then it was my birthday, I'm trying to wrap up school work, hosting a fundraiser Friday, and I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks

Update: 2/3 of our magic band packages arrived last week! I'm at work so I don't currently have photo evidence but I'll post a picture later :p Our final magic band package shipped out much later than the other 2 and the tracking says it's currently in my mailbox - I wonder if the delay was due to the new band design that's supposed to roll out later this year? I guess we'll see tonight if I am stuck with a new, ugly band (just my opinion)!

As I mentioned before, our original Disneymoon was slated for December 15 - 23rd and we were going on a cruise December 11 - 15. We received an email about 2 weeks ago stating that our cruise ship needed to go to Texas so our cruise would be ending a day early on the 14th :banghead: Whatever. Another Disney Day! However we were now left with being a few weeks out and not having a room to stay in nor the vacation points to book one (I'm looking at you May 2017 trip!!) Sooo what to do? Buy one time use points! I called DVC to check availability and they had studios open at Bay Lake Tower, Saratoga Springs, and Old Key West. Personally, none of these options are appealing to me, but Dillon always wanted to stay at the Contemporary (even if it is Bay Lake Tower) so that's where we wound up! While not in our original plans, I think it'll be a nice addition to our trip and we'll probably just spend our extra time in the Magic Kingdom :)

Dillon and I are both go with the flow kind of vacation people so nailing down details of where we want to be, what we want to eat, and when we want to ride rides at 60-180 days out is always a struggle for us and is constantly changing! With that said, these are our ~current~ plans:

December 14th
Disembark our cruise ship and make our way to Bay Lake Tower to check in. I honestly have no idea what time we'll get there as I've never gone from a cruise to Disney and it isn't a Disney cruise, but I'm thinking by 4. Maybe that's too optimistic? I DON'T KNOW. Anyways it doesn't really matter since we weren't planning on being in Disney this day anyways! After we check in we'll head over to Magic Kingdom to activate Dillon's annual pass and do whatever we feel like doing! We don't have any dining booked and we have fastpasses for Pooh, Buzz, and the Haunted Mansion but whether we use them or not remains to be seen!

December 15th
Since this was our original arrival date we don't really have anything planned for this day either. We'll check out of Bay Lake Tower and check in at the Poly in the morning and I think we'll just take this day as it comes. Perhaps part resort day, part Disney Springs? That seems likely. For dinner tonight we'll be dining in room and ordering the Polynesian Twilight Feast! Dillon loves 'Ohana but unfortunately we were unable to get a dinner reservation here at the 180 day mark because I was in Disney and completely forgot about it! By the time I realized the next day there was no availability for our entire stay so I hope this is a suitable substitute for him :)

December 16th
Today will be a terribly busy day and I don't know why I did this to us! Remember how I said we're go with the flow vacation people? Apparently something possessed me when I made these plans! For this day I have morning fastpasses scheduled for the Magic Kingdom: Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain and then a lunch reservation at Skipper's Canteen. THEN I have plans to go to the DVC Merry Member Mixer in Epcot and THEN go to the Jingle Bell Jingle Bam! Dessert Party in Hollywood Studios :grumpy: I don't know what I was doing!! Actually, after reading what I just typed I'm definitely going to try to make some changes to this day because I just can't deal with being on this much of a schedule!

With that said, I'm off to Disney's website and I'll be back later with some more plans! :D

For some reason my magic band picture won't upload, but yay! No new, ugly bands from our third shipment!!
Moving times/activities around on the 16th was more of a pain than it was worth so we're sticking with those plans!

December 17
We'll have been married for exactly one week! We plan on spending our morning in EPCOT and have Be Our Guest dinner reservations. We don't love or hate BOG but it's something we've done on each trip together since it opened so why not continue the tradition? We have fastpasses for Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and Frozen Ever After. We might do the Behind the Seeds tour this day too if we feel like it! (another tradition!)

December 18
Today we'll spend our morning in Animal Kingdom with fastpasses for Kilimanjaro Safaris, Everest, and DINOSAUR. For the afternoon we'll likely head back to the Poly and enjoy some pool time since it'll be our last night there :( We have late reservations for Le Cellier and it will be Dillon's first time dining there! I personally think Yachtsman's is the better steakhouse choice, however, the last time we dined there, Dillon did not like the atmosphere and we had a somewhat rude waitress so Le Cellier it is!

December 19
We have to check out of the Poly  (side note: When I was little I always dreamed of staying at the Poly. My parents have 4 kids and we typically traveled to Disney with a party of 8 so the Polynesian was never really a feasible option for us growing up. I never thought I'd get to stay there, but here I am, DVC owner and spending part of my honeymoon there!!) We'll head over to Animal Kingdom Lodge in the morning to get check in out of the way and activate our dining plan. I have a Tables in Wonderland card that we'll be using for the first half of the trip and then dining plan the second half so I can prove to Dillon Tables in Wonderland is where it's at! After checking in, we'll head to Hollywood Studios for a bit. We have fastpasses for Tower of Terror, Toy Story, & Star Tours. We'll head back to AKL, check out the resort and then head over to Epcot for the night finishing the night at Tutto Italia.

Still to come 4 more Disney Days!

December 20
Our plans for today consist of going to Disney Springs, watching Rogue One at the AMC, and then heading over to Epcot for the night. Dillon loves the Garden Grill so we'll be dining there this night! We have fastpasses for Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and Soarin. We'll likely spend some time in the DVC lounge too since Dillon hasn't been there yet!

December 21
Tonight will be another first for Dillon! I'm making him go to Hoop-Dee-Doo!! While I don't think the food is great, I think the atmosphere here is fantastic. My family made it a point to do Hoop-Dee-Doo whenever possible on trips growing up so the nostalgia aspect has a lot to do with my love for it, for sure. Every time the two of us have gone on a trip he's never agreed to going here and I'm not sure why. He loves ribs, fried chicken, etc. and included yuengling should have sealed the deal but it wasn't until this trip he agreed to try it! I hope he doesn't find it too corny since he never experienced it when he was younger and that he has a good time but we shall see! Other than that, we're taking this day as it comes - wherever we feel like going we will go!

December 22
The only set plan we have for today is eating lunch at Mama Melrose's. This will probably be mostly an AKL resort day/ Disney Springs but who knows!

December 23
Check out day :( Our honeymoon and escape from reality has come to an end. Our flight leaves MCO around 4:30 so we're planning on going to Animal Kingdom for the morning and having lunch at the Yak & Yeti solely for the fried wonton dessert lol. We'll try to catch the Festival of the Lion King one last time and head back to catch the tragical express to MCO, board our plane to Newark, and then drive back home to Pennsylvania just in time for Christmas Eve :) Hopefully the Disney depression won't hit right away since we have the holidays with our family to look forward to :)

See Ya Real Soon!
