Trip Report A Not So Splashy, Very Dashy, Somewhat Sleepy and A Little Frisky, Uplyfting Sept 2018 TR (Completed!)

Once again, it is so hard to believe that our adventure in WDW is over. I don’t understand how time goes so fast when we are there. Even though this was our longest trip ever, it still flew by.

We returned home around midnight on Saturday and I’ve been getting back to reality and catching up on reading other TR’s before beginning my own.

Just in case you may not know us…

Me: Mary/mom

Ross – Dad AKA Grumpy, but was acting more like Sleepy on this trip. (And yes – those Crocs came along with him.)

Julia – DD Sweet 16 this trip

Hope – My 9 year old princess whose diagnoses of Autism usually lends itself to some interesting tidbits for my TR’s.

As a card carrying member of the riff-raff I do apologize for how my brethren acted. I’ll be sure to bring it up at the next board meeting.

I do appreciate the new shirt ideas, though!
I have to agree with figmentfan I just don't think Disney is the place for drinking and shirts promoting drinking are just not good around children. This is not what Walt intended.

It's so hard.... For most, people, I don't think it becomes an issue. It's just those few who abuse it that makes it uncomfortable. Unfortunatly, I think we just experienced some very bad behavior this trip. But who knows? My younger self might call me a party pooper! lol

It's always nice to be thought of, but I literally only drink multiple mimosas in ONE restaurant. :geek: Now I'm wanting to eat Brunch at the Top! sigh... dreaming of sunshine and brunch while it's -20 outside.

I so want to try Brunch at the Top! We had a great meal at Narcoossee's but I was still sad not to have tried brunch. Wow! -20??? I guess I shouldn't complain - we only got to -9! lol

Day 11 Sunday September 16, 2018

During the night, I woke up because I thought a heard a thud. I sat up to see Hope – still asleep - wedging herself between the two beds. I have no idea how she managed it – but her body was half hanging off the bed with one leg and one arm trying to stop from falling. She must have rolled off! I was scared – those beds are pretty high off the ground with a hard wood landing. I jumped, got her and put her back on the bed, pushed her to the middle and placed a bunch of pillows next to her. From this point on, I was nervous she would rolled off the bed.

Today was our Water Park day so we took our time in the morning and caught up on some sleep. Julia worked on some drawing.

Ross booked our bounceback.

The plan was to have lunch at DS and then go to TL. I caught up on some laundry while everyone else got ready and by 11:00AM, we headed out.

By 1:00PM, we arrived and were ready to have fun. We found a couple of chairs without any problem and hit the lazy river.

Crush N Gusher was next and I was so glad to have Ross help out with the monstrous rafts. We did each of the three choices, pineapple, coconut and banana.

Then we headed to the wave pool. Julia stopped for some frozen lemonade.

It was hard to drag her away – good thing for mini doughnuts! Hope is not a dessert kid - except for vanilla ice cream. But for some reason she LOVES these mini-doughnuts! She never eats cake or doughnuts at home. The mini doughnuts here are the only ones she likes! Julia got her Dippin Dots or “Artic Dots”

We stayed in the water until they announced closing and then we dried off for a bit, threw our clothes back over our bathing suits and headed back to POP.

We had a 8:00PM dinner ADR at Narcoossee’s, so we planned to change our clothes back at the resort. Now, if it were just us girls, you better believe I would have been getting a Lyft to pick us up. But there was no chance of that with the hubby here, so off we went back to DS and then to POP.

I was so worried that something would go wrong which would make us late. But things went smoothly and we were back at POP by about 6:00. Hope really wanted to swim in the Hippy Dippy pool, so I said we could for about a half hour. We may have stayed a few extra minutes, but we were able to get back to the room, change, and be on our way to dinner by 7:15. That gave us 45 minutes to get to the GF via MK. Again, that Lyft APP was calling my name but I didn’t even suggest it. Actually, we seemed to be good on time – which was so not normal for us.

When we got to the bus stop, a bus was waiting for us!

About 10 minutes later, we were at the MK!

I commented to Ross that I couldn’t believe we were actually going to be on time for a reservation. (You guys know what’s coming right?) As we were walking past all the busses towards the monorail, I noticed a bus with the sign saying it was going to the GF. I thought that was odd because I was pretty sure they didn’t have buses running to the GF from MK. I said something to Ross who said to ask the bus driver if it was indeed going to the GF. Sure enough, it was! Turns out, the monorail was down! We hopped on the bus and again Ross and I commented to each other how lucky we were to have asked and that we were still going to be on time for our reservation. However, that would be the end of our time management good fortune.

As soon as we got on the bus, we noticed it was FREEZING! Now the busses are usually cold – but nothing like this. Ross is a lunatic who can wear shorts in the winter, so when he says he’s cold, it’s cold. The bus driver was an older woman who seemed very frazzled. She was super sweet, but just didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing. Ross and I thought that it may have been because this wasn’t her normal route. Since busses do not usually travel this way. After waiting a few minutes, we were on our way. However, the GF was not our first stop. We pulled into the Contemporary where a few people got on. Tonight was a Party night and the people who got on looked annoyed, but relieved to be on their way. I guess they were waiting a while since the monorail was down. We pulled away from the Contempory and headed for the Polynesian. We pulled up behind another bus that was blocking the MK stop. So we waited and waited and waited. We could see the people waiting in their costumes for the MK bus and they must have been waiting a while. Some were cheering while others looked really upset! As we waited, Ross and I knew the rarity of us being on time for a reservation had come and gone. We weren’t so bothered by the time, but the temperature of the bus was insane! It was so unbelievable cold. The girls and I put our sweatshirts on and we were still so uncomfortable. Ross was worried that one of the girls was going to catch a cold.

Meanwhile, our driver continued to look confused as we waited for the bus in front of us to pull away. Finally, she turned around and asked if anyone was getting off at the Poly. No one on our bus was getting of, so she just pulled around the bus in front of us and moved on! Oh my – the looks of the people she left at that stop was awful! You could see they were so mad – and I would have been too!

Those doughnuts are the best! There’s a restaurant near me that serves ones that taste very close to them. It’s very dangerous to have them 2 miles away instead of hundred of miles away.

Just joined this trip report! It looks like you All had a blast, except for that one scary moment with Hope, which actually turned out to be a demonstration of her survival skills! Kudos to you for giving her that!

I love your Figmant shirt, and the pic of your husband sitting in the wave pool with Hope is so sweet!
I can’t wait to read more!

I agree - better them be a once a year treat! lol I remember when I was little, my family would visit a farm during the fall and get apple cider and this type of doughnuts and they were sooooooo good! These remind me of them!

Your day at TL looked like so much fun! Really makes me consider going next time (if I can get my daughter to enjoy being wet a bit more...)

The water parks are fun - but so tiring! I think they tire us out more than a much longer day at one of the theme parks! We waited to visit the water parks until Hope started to like being in the water. When she was younger, she HATED getting wet! Even in my earlier TR's I remember writing how excited I was when she allowed us to carry her around the pool for a short time. It took a lot of practice at getting wet and having fun! lol

At last, we arrived at the GF and made our way to Narcoossee’s. Believe it not, we were only 15 minutes late.

Miss Hope was tired and grumpy. Ross, Julia and I all ordered the surf and turf. We had to explain to Julia that “this” is what lobster should taste like!

The food was amazing, as was our server. It was our favorite meal together.
