Trip Report A Not So Splashy, Very Dashy, Somewhat Sleepy and A Little Frisky, Uplyfting Sept 2018 TR (Completed!)

Once again, it is so hard to believe that our adventure in WDW is over. I don’t understand how time goes so fast when we are there. Even though this was our longest trip ever, it still flew by.

We returned home around midnight on Saturday and I’ve been getting back to reality and catching up on reading other TR’s before beginning my own.

Just in case you may not know us…

Me: Mary/mom

Ross – Dad AKA Grumpy, but was acting more like Sleepy on this trip. (And yes – those Crocs came along with him.)

Julia – DD Sweet 16 this trip

Hope – My 9 year old princess whose diagnoses of Autism usually lends itself to some interesting tidbits for my TR’s.

Trip details:

September 6th – 8th at Art Of Animation (Room only)

September 8th – 22nd Pop Century (MYW Package Free Dining)

Yep- that’s a LONG trip – our longest EVER. Still it managed to fly by in the blink of an eye.

Haha - yes - I've already "suggested" to Julia that it would be a fun place to work while she's in college. That is - if she is planning to stay home and commute.

I'm not sure how I'm going to feel when it's opened. I have a feeling the traffic is going to be crazy during the summers and I will have to start hitting the back roads. Great Wolf Lodge just announced plans to open in our county as well and there's rumors that Six Flags is "exploring" the area too.

Day 15: Thursday September 20th

I know it will not shock you guys to say that we had a late start to our day.

Ross and I realized something today. I am someone who likes to be up and ready and out for the day as quickly as possible. Then, when we reach the parks, I like to take my time and enjoy everything without racing around. Ross is the opposite. He wants to take his time getting ready and has no sense of urgency to get going, but once we are at the park, he changes his speed to turbo. It only took 26 years of marriage to figure this out.

So as we were leaving our room, at 10:30, we were battling at full force.

I was excited when this bus pulled up, but I still haven’t seen the movie.

We arrived at Hollywood Studios and had a FP for Slinky Dog, but Ross was talking his sweet time. He was annoyed that I told him that he slowed us down, so he decided to annoy me by going at a snail’s pace. I mean, Flash would have been faster than he was this morning.

The girls and I were walking of front of him, so we stopped along the way to watch all of the coming attractions signs to give him time to catch up. The walk from the bus was crazy!

I was fuming at Ross' behavior. I didn’t want us to miss our FP time for SDD, and I didn’t want to lose my cool in front of the girls, but my patience was wearing thin. He was purposely walking so slow just to annoy me – by the time we reached the security checkpoint, all I wanted to do was give him a good swift kick right in his Alien Swirling Saucer!

We finally made it!

We made it SDD a few minutes late, but no problems. Except that someone had gotten sick a few minutes before. I’m glad we missed it and just had to watch the clean up.

We left Toy Story Land and walked into the next showing of VOTLM.

Then we split up for a while. I think Ross and Hope went off to watch Frozen while Julia and I went to R&R and ToT. But first I made us stop to watch….

Julia was hot and asked for something cold. We picked up a churro too.

Then it was time drop, rock & roll!

Ross texted me and we all met up at BATB show. It was awesome as always!

We were hungry so we decided to get something to eat. Julia was hoping for Pizza Planet Rizzo, but it was closed so we returned to ABC Commissary. I really enjoyed it. I offered to mobile order, but Ross wanted his human connection and decided to wait on line.

This has to be the best use of the acronym I've seen! I think I might have to steal this if I ever need to reference a Saucer in front of the kiddos

Since Illuminations was starting, we didn’t want to walk through the crowds, so we just hung out and watched it from where we were.

We walked back to Future World, stopping at China to get Julia a bubble tea, one of her new favorites.

So should I try to ask forgiveness from all of you? I promise I have a good reason for my disappearance, which I promise to explain, if I dare to start a PTR one of these days… However, if any of you still want to tag along, I promise the conclusion to come in a few days.

The food at ABC was pretty good and Julia and I decided to share this time, so we weren’t so stuffed when we left.

Star Tours was next followed by a rematch on TSMM.

Ross and Hope had already seen Frozen, but agreed to go again so Julia and I could see it. It was a great show – and look… it’s Ben! Yay!!

Ross would have liked it – if he wasn’t sleeping.

Julia asked to see the Muppets so we went there next. Not my favorite – I could skip it and not care. Ross was happy to go because he was able to finish his nap.

I was so excited to see what I thought would be the entrance for Star Wars Land.

I wanted to get closer and take a picture, but my family was walking away. I figured I would get a chance to get a picture next year since it would not open until well after our September 19 trip. (Dramatic Irony)

We had a FP for the Aliens, but since the line for TSMM was so short, we went for another spin.

As we exited TSMM, Ross did not get Julia’s and my excitement to get a picture by the popsicle wall.

Then it was off to catch our flying saucer!

As we waited to board our Alien spacecraft, a woman who was riding decided she did not want to get off. There was a little commotion, but whatever happened, the ride had to be reset. Since we were in the area, which was next to board, they tried moving us. Somehow Ross and Julia got separated from me and Hope. I have no idea what happed, but eventually we were back together again and getting ready to board.
