As usual, fantastic video @marni1971! I was too young at the time to remember this or if we even watched it at the time, so I appreciate being able to watch it now! The evolution of Epcot’s nighttime show infrastructure has always fascinated me!

Why do I feel like I've seen it? Do you know if they ever did a couple throwback shows in the early 1990s?
thru out the 90,s they used a symphonic version of that soundtrack, it was literally identical but rerecorded and part of the beginning scenes you see in this were cut out for the light sequences they did for each pavilion. The firework sequence has been almost completely the same from Day 1 to 1997

For decades hardly anything was known about EPCOT Centers second regular night time show.

Not anymore!

This is really random but a year or two ago I had a dream about some fictional Epcot fireworks show that looked a lot like this. Either it's a crazy coincidence or I somehow time traveled in my sleep 😅

I never got to see the nighttime show at Epcot until February of 1984 or 1985. If memory serves, and it might not, I think the first show I saw was with the lasers and the building outlines.

Me to, you must have saw the orchestrated version of this with the illuminations setup in the 90’s I have such blurred memory of that show that if someone told me back then that it was this I’d believe them.

So were these just massive projectors? I imagine that was pretty impressive visually for its time.

EDIT: Duh, could just read the video description and answer my own question. Simple but impressive for early 80s!

great video as always!! i've been slightly obsessing over the first few EPCOT Center nighttime shows over the last few years, and i'm SO glad to finally be able to see this one. next up - Carnaval de Lumiere! ;) thanks for all you do, these older shows would have woefully little information out there if it wasn't for your efforts.

Well that's the crazy part, I wasn't even alive when that show was around nor was I even aware of its existence until I saw it on this thread!

I had forgotten about this show. You have to admit that Disney sure got their money's worth out of those fountain barges. I am normally not a nostalgic person at all, time only flows in one direction, but I do miss the days when Epcot's shows were stories in and of themselves told using multiple media and effects. Today it is just a crass, uninspiring chance to throw Disney's characters, movie shorts, and music clips at us in an attempt to get us to buy their ever cheapening merchandise.
