A Beer around the world.

In my upcoming trip, I am planning to enjoy one beer from each country in the World Showcase. Do any of you have any recommendations :slurp: or any that I should avoid? :hurl:

Please understand, this is only for flavor enjoyment, not for inebriation.

Thanks for your input!

Mmmm, I love Dos Equis. But speaking of a drink around the world, ...

Optimator in Germany is a must-have for me.

The sake bar in Japan's Mitsukoshi store is a nice break from (or addition to) a beer tour, I think.

Stella Artoir in France...or your local grocer's beer aisle...where it will cost 1/5th of what it does at Epcot...

If you truly plan on enjoying a beer in each country in Epcot, make sure you have about 160.00 with you.

This "challenge" is fun, but my advice is not to do it in 90-100 degree heat. Know your limits. Have a "designated walker" with you as well and use the WDW transportation please.

Yes, I know it's Belgian -- and it's been around for 600 years -- but it's the most popular beer in France (including Epcot's France)

You better figure on stretching it out for AT LEAST seven hours then! Just as a quick estimate: Suppose you drink the first four right after one another (a simplification). Then you'll be just at the limit. Seven nations left! Eight if you count Orisirisi (and they have good beer there!). About one beer per hour metabolized after that (rule of thumb). Maybe even do it on two different days for maximum enjoyment.

I did it on one day last year. I started at 11 am. I may have skipped Canada, because the beer stand was closed when I went by there, and I didn't want to wait. Substitued champagne in France, and had an extra wine with a late lunch at Les Chefs. I think I had two beers in Morocco, because I liked it so much. I may have repeated or tried two different varieties in one or two other places, I don't remember. I think Orisirisi had a few varieties that I sampled.

By the time I got past Orisirisi, and I was movin' kinda slow, like good ol' Uncle Joe at the Junction (anyone remember that reference? No TV Land watchers' answers accepted!). And I'm a beer drinker and a large fellow (large around the middle, that is).

I made it all the way, through. I can't remember where I got beer in China, though; maybe I missed that one. After Orisirisi, I slowed down a bit. We did the water rides in Norway and Mexico, and I wrapped it up with a beer outside Mexico at about 8 pm.

So, as someone already said, be careful, and do take Disney Transportation home, or have someone else not participating in your "challenge" to be the designated driver.

To answer the original question, I like different things, and so I especially liked the beer in Morroco and Orisirisi. The taste was very different from what we are used to in this country, so you have to be a bit adventurous. They are beers you generally don't see in the US in most places you can buy beer, whereas most of the other beers you can get in places that have a good variety.

Have fun.

Unless someone here has compiled it, I don't think there is a list. As to the cost, except for the Miller Genuine Draft at the US, there aren't any regional beers under 9.00 -- most are 12.00

I had a beer at Chefs de France last month that was surprisingly really good. It had a distinct flavor that wasnt overwhelming. I forgot the name though. Hopefully someone on here knows it because it is a great beer to try.

I love beer. I'm so not a wine/champagne girl. I tell people regularly it is confirmed, I am true white trash. LOL!

Anywhoo, after reading about the 'Beer Around the World' tour I got to thinking. Why not offer a 'Beer Around the World' punch-card? Create a punch card or something similar that you pay X amount of bucks for at any beer-selling establishment for say $50-$75. The punch card entitles you to a smaller portion of 1 regional beer in each pavilion. This could cut down on cost and at the same time keep people from inadvertantly drinking a bit too much by trying to polish off every drop of that expensive cup you've bought each time. I'd love it. I can't drink a lot at once because I so rarely drink. Something like that would be great for me because then I'd feel like I could enjoy myself instead of kicking myself in the behind for pouring out half of every cup. When the tour is finished you can keep the punch card or whatever you use as a souvenier or trophy. LOL! Disney could make some money on this because I'm sure there would still be plenty of folks who either can't or won't complete the entire tour. You know?
