News Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Am I alone in thinking that this is far and away the most logical WDW spot for a Shanghai Pirates boat ride for all the villains?
Does anyone else wonder if they don’t do the multi villain ride because it’ll be too similar in concept to Monsters Unchained over at Epic?

Although if it was done with a different ride system like say the Shanghai boats I’d suppose it wouldn’t be that similar especially since the tone of the rides will be vastly different

Seeing them continuously try to rip off of Uni's biggest hitters such as the new thanks ride I think it is not a concern. Lots of rides have an antagonist ensemble.

I imagine it would be a totally different tone.

I think they'll play this moderately safe and you'll get a Maleficent thorny coaster and a Villains cocktail party dark ride / boat ride. Both could be amazing attractions, I'm not meaning to demean that approach.

Having said that, we played the armchair Imagineering game on our show and independent of one another we came up with an even more self aware approach. In our pitches, the villains know they're adjacent to the Magic Kingdom, adjacent to Fantasyland, adjacent to the most Magical Place on Earth. They want to take over the Magic Kingdom as the underlying objective. The ride we pitched was the villains going through existing and extinct attractions and causing chaos. Each scene of the ride would be a new scene in a different MK attraction. The ending was an elevator ride up to the top of Cinderella Castle to look out on the Magic Kingdom after the villains had completed their chaos.

The other lesser ideas were taking existing attractions but re-told through the eyes of the villain. Splash Mountain would have been an obvious choice here, but Peter Pan's Flight also works.

There was a ride pitch for Villain's Mountain like 17 years ago where you were on a boat traveling through Bald Mountain and come upon the Villain's having a meeting.. they spot you and a chase ensues with a splash down sort of thing... So the multi-villain thing had been discussed before... it just was not time... it would have been where the New Fantasyland Forest extension was built...

Really hoping it captures the same vibe as the Disney villains computer game I was obsessed with as a kid

Seems like Classic Josh... There have been no concrete proposals that have been released... There has been talk and one sketchy piece of concept art. That's it. For an area that is supposed to begin construction in a few months, you would think they would release something a little more specific other than a roller coaster and another attraction ( which could mean anything)...Could be a meet and greet like Fairytale Hall... they call that an "attraction" too.

You know what's funny?

I am sure they will build something. Whether it lives up to expectations will be another story.

I am thinking it will end of on the level of Galaxy's Edge...really cool with a great attraction but missing the details and extras that really put it over the top.

At the Risk of reading through 68 pages of 'imagineering' do we have any concrete proposals for what will be going on here, or was this announcement just 'classic Josh'.

???
They talked about the land at D23 Brazil, showing some of the villains that will be featured in the land, some of the story. We only know about the coaster in the initial concept art, but nothing about the second major ride.
