On Monday, Labor Day, we went to Disneyland for a few hours. The trip was great did 4 major rides in under 20 minute wait!

As we were leaving, I man pushing a wheelchair ran into the heel of my son's foot. I never saw it happen; I only heard the man shout "sorry". that's when my attention went straight to my son's foot. It was a small slit but deep as the Grand Canyon! (my view) Well, it needed 5 staples put in to keep it closed. Staples are coming out next Wednesday.

There was no way I was going to wheelchair him around for 10 days. So a few $$$$ dollars later, I have rescheduled the trip for Sept 16!! Can you believe that!!

God is always in control. Just another reminder.

Just wanted to share my story. Watch out for speeding wheelchairs!!

OMG! I am so sorry for your son. We were at DTD during Spring Break and an older gentleman on a scooter literally ran over my son's foot and then ankle. He was trapped under the thing. He kept telling him "well, just pull your leg out" My son's leg was literally completely under the scooter becuase the guy hit him so hard, knocked him over, and kept going. When a crowd gathered and security showed up, they told him to get off the scooter so my son could get his leg out, he literally refused to get off the scooter. It was ridiculous. Thank God for Disney Security. They handled him. My son's leg looked like one non-stop scrap, all the way around. Blood was everywhere. Thank goodness, no deep lacerations. The man kept saying "When you see a scooter or wheelchair coming, get out of the way". Security told him, "Actually sir, when you see people walking, you need to stop or slow down. Pedestrians have the right of way, not scooters or wheelchairs." I truly appreciated that. I thought about putting it on a T-shirt for the week.

Enjoy your trip. Happy healings! And yes, God is always in control (even when I'm fighting endlessly for it  )

Wow, what a story! I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm glad he's ok. We are doing better today. We are not leaving the house (just for doc appt) until Sept 16..to the airport. Just kidding!

I love the shirt idea!

Praise God! I hope your son's foot heals well and you guys have a great time! Out of curiosity, which four attractions did you do at Disneyland?
We did Splash Mountain (10 min), Big Thunder (15), Indiana Jones (20), Winnie the Pooh ride (less 10).

It's stories like this that make my blood boil and make me lose faith in humanity. Look, if you're actually in need of a scooter, fine. But when you're using one just because you're lazy, not only are you compounding the problem by not walking even more, but after you've ran over a kid who is actually willing to put in physical effort to enjoy the parks, you try and blame it on him ad refuse to get off your scooter?! I wish your kid all the best and the gentleman on the scooter life in prison.

Same thing happened to my wife last year at DHS. All the guy could do was laugh at her and speak in some foreign language. I wanted to kick his , but my family kept me back. You should need a permit for those things.

You are a lot nicer than me, Security probably would have came and taken me and my wife away if that had happened to my daughter. Especially if he had the audacity to not apologize, and play it off like it was my daughter fault.

I couldn't agree more about the rude people with Wheelchairs//scooters//STROLLERS... These people seem to thing everything revolves around them. I find strollers are the worst. Many parents just don't care...

I know many of you will probably not like the comment. I apologize up front. But, it seems many of these people on the scooters, really don't need them. I see many people get up and walk to a ride or to get food with complete ease. In no way am I saying everyone using one doesn't need it. My step-dad has COPD with 20% lung function and get embarrassed when he has to use a scooter at Disney. He can barely walk 15 feet using oxygen and is still out of breath. He can be a stubborn old man... ha. When he sees a group of people, he pulls over to the side and stops to allow them to get by so no one has the chance to become struck by the scooter.

But, I think a lot of people get them so they can be lazy and not walk. Heck, I have seen 18 year olds in them and they are completely physically fit. Hello... you are at Disney World. If many would actually walk around, they wouldn't feel the need for one. Again, I am not trying to be mean, but geesh. Look where you are going...

On the flip side, I was down in the world last September and I remember watching this gentleman (with a broken leg in a cast, on a scooter) try to get across the bridge by Splash... The crowds kept coming and coming. Not one decent person would let him and his wife get by. Finally after watching them becoming discouraged after about 7 or 8 minutes, myself, and about 5 friends just formed a chain and stopped the traffic so they could get by. The husband and wife couldn't thank us enough.

Personally, society has gotten away from manners. If I would have done some of the things these kids do when I was a kid, my mom would have probably spanked my behind. In the 80s it was called parenting, now it's child abuse. Go figure!

Trust me, I (we) are not. I just kept thinking there's kids around, there's kids around. I wanted to roll that scooter right into the lake.

God I hate 90% of people in scooters and wheelchairs.

They think they own the bloomin sidewalks.

EDIT -- To elaborate....my grandfather is half paralyzed because of a stroke, and I helped push him around the parks for our family reunion at WDW last year. The two of us both know we aren't the only people in the world, and we made damn sure that we were as respectful and courteous to everyone as we would have them be to us.
