The latest rumors about the Summer 2005 celebration claim every Disney park around the world will help celebrates not only Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary (July 17th, 1955) but the start of Disney’s transformation of the Theme Park business itself. The dates are still being tossed about but most seem to think it will run from June/July 2005 through Mid 2006 to allow time for Epcot to also prepare and celebrate it’s 25th Anniversary on Oct. 1st, 2007. This would break from WDW’s traditional 15 month long celerations (Oct 1st to December 31st on the following year) we’ve seen in the past, but the changes may be required to give Disneyland the proper spotlight it deserves in 2005. Before this however, Disney will try to market Epcot as the center of it’s own ‘Reunion’ themed marketing campaign. Disney feels that since Sept. 11th, people may have a renewed sense of meeting up with friends and relatives.

I think it's a really good idea. And another excuse for wdw to have another celebration. I hope they really do somting amazing for Disneyland, 50 years is a huge milestone.

Does Disney need an excuse to celebrate ? Every day at WDW is a celebration. (Although a reason for the celebration helps to justify it).

We're hoping they do something huge for DL's 50th. I've amassed many many freq flyer miles and would love to take the family out to CA to celebrate. It'll be quite a trek from Upstate NY, so I really hope they make it worth it.
If not we'll have to "settle" and go to WDW;)

WDW is def where its at. But I'd like to experience the park that started it all at least once. I figured the 50th would be a good time to try. I sure hope its worth it. I'd hate to come home thinking "We should've gone to Disney World"
But we'll see, its still a while off

What r u saying? If i went to WDW, i would be prob, going home thinking "I should have gone to Disneyladn, Disneyland has so-much Detail, WALT'S DETAIL! FOR Ex.) Look at POTC in DL, compared to WDW, and don't give em that "well they can't build into teh ground"...even though they have 2 story "basements above ground, that they could have used.......

Disney World is just-like a "cheap-duplicate of Disneyland"...it's like the Walt DIsney Studios in PAris, compared to the MGM Studios in Orlando

I beg to differ...DISNEYLAND is better than the MAGIC KINGDOM...not WALT DISNEY WORLD!

Well, one thing about Disneyland Resort is that most of the best stuff at all the WDW parks are crammed into the 2 theme parks. All of the 3D shows are there, and the DCA version of the TOT is being built.

I've never been to Disneyland. One day I hope to get to go. Anyways, it's not so much that one is better than the other, its that WDW has more, and different things than Disneyland. DL is a classic, and that should be good enough for anyone. WDW just has more attractions, parks, ect.

I think it will be pretty cool to celebrate the 50th at all the parks and why not? Disneyland was what got all the parks going!

The first time I ever went to Disneyland was for the 25th anniversary and it was great! plus if you're interested you can pick up some nice momentos... I'm not a souvenir junkie by any means, but I had a set of silver mouse ears, cap portion was black, and they had a 25th anniversary decal on them, it was just pretty cool, I didn't know anybody else in my town that had them!!

My sources have said that DL is getting a HUGE makeover for it's 50th. 5 of the classics are going to be refurbed in a major way.

I am going to venture out Cali way for the celebration.

Yes, that is true, but Why should it's DISNEYLAND'S birthday...it's not like Walt Disney' where he work on all the parks....

When they Epcot, or Magic Kindgom, or MG, AK has a Birthday, tehy don't celebrate it at all the parks, and DL.....they celebreate it in THAT park.. i personally think that-that would be, i guess u could say, "unfair"...

Well that's what i have 2 say about that...

Well, that still is the current rumor. We should know more next year as some of the changes would have to start then to be completed on time.

I don't think that WDW should have anything to do with Disneylands 50th birthday.

My own thought is that it makes a more special trip for those people who do not live near either location and who maybe only get to experience one of the parks in their lifetime, when you go there and there is some type of celebration, it just adds that much more to the trip. By having some sort of recognition of it at the MK also, those who will only get to visit WDW will get a bit of the fun and I'm in no way saying it should be as elaborate a celebration at MK as it would be in DL, there is no question that the biggest hoopla for it should be in California.

Well, one prob. though i think that it would be ok at MK, but not EPCOT, and all that...but all-in-all i know understand...thanx

That's what I'm thinking. I love WDW and no place will ever top it, not even DL. But living so far away and going there for the 50th will make it very special trip and make up for anything I personally feel is lacking or not as good as WDW.
Now I just need to make sure USAir is around until then......

The only difference between DL and WDW is the scale. Both parks share the same amount of detail, DL just has it in a smaller space.

Sadly, DL has been completely overhauled, so few of Walts signature touches remain.
