30% off rooms- does this mean occupancy is down?

I have to admit, my family is going in June and looked at both the % off and the free meal deal they were offering. It was actually cheaper to go with the meal deal this year rather then the % off when I added the dining package to my reservation. I am actually paying the same amount with room (Pop), dining and Memory Maker as I would with just the %off room and dining without the MM package.

This is the first year I am going and actually paying for the dining package. After going in June last year the expense for food out of pocket for 4 and that was with me eating the kids (9 and 3 at the time) leftovers rather then my own meal, I found that I would pay just a little more to add dining to my reservation and actually get to eat my own meal.

Worth emphasizing..... the key here is to check your dates, and preferred places to stay. VERY often, the WDW search Engine will show "no availability". It's enlightening to search an "offer" with "ALL HOTELS" checked - VERY often, the only "available" hotels are the usual suspects.... about 4 locations.

Q: From your user name are you a swordsmith?

Even with free dining plans I've had a hard time making the dining plan better than a percent off the room. I guess it depends on how much you eat. And what you eat.

You only get ONE quick service meal per night/per person with the summer meal offer. And no snacks or refillable mugs included at all.
You probably know that but just letting you know it's not the whole quick service or regular dining plan free like in the fall. So you would not have been able to calculate the true cost savings being its just one QS meal a day and nothing else. Standard QS plan is 2 QS meals and 1 snack a day per person, and regular dining plan is 1 QS, 1 TS, and 1 snack per person per day and refillable mugs for both plans.
So the summer offer is totally different dining offer you can't normally buy and add to your reservation. So yes calculating if you bought dining plan with room offer would be more because you would of gotten the whole dining plan not just one meal a day. :)

We did upgrade to the normal Dining Package and it was discounted due to there being the 1 free QS offered.

I ran the numbers every which way I could adding the dining package and came out ahead with the Summer Meal Deal. I don't know but it worked. I had the agent at WDW run the numbers and she couldn't believe it either.

I was not saying you were not saving I just was making sure you knew because some thought it was the whole QS dining plan free this summer Lol. We personally love the dining plan and always pay to add it. ;)

Thank you!

We ran the numbers for my parents, a party of 2 and the spring deal % off came out better then the summer meal deal.

I can believe that some didn't realize that it was not the whole dining plan. This is the first year we are actually adding dining to our package, I figure this way my entire vacation besides souvenirs, or extra snacks, is completely paid in full before we get there.

Your very welcome!! And Yes that's what I like about getting the dining plan. We are now DVC members and still always add dining. We like that the only OOP costs will be souvineers, gas, and alcohol etc. We like the whole pre paid aspect it's much more relaxing that way. ;)

Never have we gotten a pin code :( Do they even offer them anymore?

I swear, if you buy some things from the Disney Store. I was hooked on buying the limited ed. t-shirts for a while (I realized I had a problem and got help), and I have received 3 pin codes since August when I moved. I found that a little interesting because the only place I changed my address was on the Disney Store for shipping purposes.
