$20million upgrade to fireworks?

Not really... Fireworks do cost a lot of money and disney does this 365 days a year with special new years fireworks. 20 mil is actually a good price for that many fire works and new tubes and whatever else they are wanting to change. When i read it i thought that was a really good price. They make that in a week anyways.

Ok maybe you're right but I was reading it as a 20mil change not the cost of purchasing fireworks. I wouldn't publish this as a 20mil change if they were already spending 18mil on it before

Wishes was less than half than that, including all new hardware and tech.

I don't post here often, but because of the popularity of World of Color at DCA, I wouldn't personally be surprised if we saw something like that eventually get included to the new Disney Springs project? I'm not too familiar with how large scale it is because I've never seen it in person but that could be a potential good fit. Located near the new part of the Market Place in the area enclosed where the new bridge is going to be. I also feel if that would happen it would probably be scaled back because that area will not be as large as the area at DCA. Just my opinion, this isn't a rumor in any means.

I'm not sure they'd ever put a permanent nighttime spectacular at DTD, thought I think it would be an interesting idea.

Also, dredging the lake there and putting up cofferdams to install the popjets isn't quite as easy as doing it to the Rivers of America or the lake at DCA. No, I doubt they'll do it. If I were to pick a park where I suspect that tech will show up first in WDW, it would be EPCOT, having it integrated with an Illuminations overhaul.

I agree with @MickeyMan101 I know WOC would be a huge success coming to WDW. It is a show that doesn't need to be in a park. If they brought it to DTD it would draw more guests from the park to DTD to do what Disney wants us to do... Spend more money in their shops and restaurants. They could even have it so that resort guests get in for free and other guests pay admission. it would probably help disperse crowds at night away from the parks and make DTD the happening place. If they don't do it they really are missing a huge opportunity here.

Wishes already has that wonderful hardware they use for Celebrate the Magic that it could utilize for an update. They could make a new show for relatively little money while ROE would likely need to be rebuilt from the ground up. So I predict WDW goes with Wishes. I'm sure the penny pinchers can also see the appeal of a WoC-like replacement for Fantasmic! I would imagine the lack of live actors, stunts, and special effects would save money over time (and apparently provide for a better show).

And then there are the recent laser tests at DAK. Pondersome. And the MSEP refurb. Clearly someone realizes the nighttime entertainment needs a major update. And it would honestly make me happier than a daytime parade at DHS and DAK.

Is there a particular reason you think it would be worse or just a general skepticism? We always see a lot of criticism here about WDW's entertainment being "stale" and not changing as often as other Disney parks, so I would think that a new show might be viewed by some as a good thing.

Okay, that was a bit of hyperbole on my part. I think IllumiNations is the best nighttime show Disney's ever done, both in concept and execution. The soundtrack is excellent. The show manages to convey theme, without the use of explicit visual narrative. There are no Disney characters, and it doesn't need them.

I don't see anything in Disney's recent live entertainment to indicate they could do something better in the same style. Their recent visual presentations tend to be directed to an audience of small children, using the same movie clips, characters, and music that can be found in a dozen different places within the resort, with absolutely no need for imagination or thought. I don't think a 'concept' show, with a soundtrack not based on a Disney franchise, would get approved.

I could be wrong.

Nothing should and likely wont come to DTD that model would fail...unless you charge for entry to DTD and in that case we all drive down to the outlets.....the reason the clubs failed....hard is due to the clientele "FREE" brings and it is proven time and time again building some grand...anything so that people will than spend money on x,y,z once there is laughable. Someone on here likened it to the belagio fountain show....the belagio show is on a strip were DOZENS of resort casinos are competing for your money...and they are all located in a place where more or less people visit to money like it grows on trees. The reason that show was done was to set them apart from the other casinos....so in this case if you build soe awesome show in DTD...your competing with?....oh yeah your own theme park night time events....so everyone leaves these parks early spending less money on the way out to go down to DTD with no intention to spend money (they are here for theme parks) the people who spend money at DTD are in the bag...they are going there on purpose to shop...they don't need another incentive to do so. Hell they got ride of the bus transport because so many people were cheating the system you think there going to spend millions to add a freebie to a mall? That will outclass there own shows at there own parks?

Nuff said.

Planned? Yes... Greenlit? No... And it's 23.6 million.. Includes upgrades to ROE and a show replacement for Wishes. New shows would use a LOT of Hi Rez projection tech .. The next generation over whats in place in MK at the moment.

I'm expecting to see people start complaining about spending this much money "when they could be building rides like universal" lol
