The 2027 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class voting results happened.

In the Modern era, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton are going to be inducted next year.

In the Pioneer era, Larry Phillips has been inducted.

Lesa France Kennedy won the NASCAR landmark award.

I'm having a take on the two different Hall of Fame era ballots for results.

I am not bit a surprise about the Pioneer era ballot. Larry Phillips was a regional legend in the 70s, 80s, and 90s as a driver and has over 300 NASCAR wins. How he got that many wins is by showing up at race tracks and race. He was one of the drivers that if you race well against him, you will get notice.

My take is Greg Biffle not getting inducted is a bit of surprise due to I've seen people get inducted into Baseball and Pro Football hall of fames just after they died. I think Greg could have a chance next year, but not automatic due to Martin Truex Jr being eligible to be on the modern era ballot next year. The modern era gets 2 people inducted a year and its not an automatic with Biffle with Biffle's name going against other people for that 2nd spot.

The latest Greg would get inducted would be the 2029 class. Matt Crofton should be eligible to be on a NASCAR ballot in 2028, but is not a first ballot Hall of fame driver despite his 3 championships. That means Greg Biffle would be able to get inducted in 2029 class if he doesn't get inducted into the 2027 class.

Kevin Harvick getting inducted on first ballot is not a shock due to his NASCAR career as a driver. He's one of the all time greats. The only thing with Kevin is how much was he held back by RCR and if he had a better pit crew at Stewart-Haas Racing considering he had 60 cup wins the way it is.

As far as Jeff Burton goes. He was a top 5 driver in the cup series from 1997 through 2000 with 15 of his 21 cup wins happened in that time frame. The argument for Jeff is deeper than just cup win and his 27 lower league NASCAR wins.

Jeff Burton had a huge role in NASCAR outside of being a driver although I wish Jeff could've been a NASCAR landmark Nominee because of what he did off the track in safety. Jeff was involved in safety after Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s death. Jeff was a co-developer of the head and neck restraint. Jeff also played a role in how safety nets were redesigned and improving the ways seatbelts and safety gear are properly installed.

All the information today on Kyle Busch caught me off guard. Before I had dinner, I found out Kyle was hospitalized and couldn't race this weekend. I also know Kyle had a sinus cold at Watkin's Glen.

I was told this just about his death before I came back online after I was done eating.

As far as Kyle Busch himself, I remembered him racing in the truck series for Jack Roush in 2001. I also remembered watching him race the Milwaukee Mile.

RIP to to one of the best race car drivers of his generation and one of the best NASCAR drivers of all time.:(

Richard Childress Racing announced starting at the Coca Cola 600, they will be suspending using the number 8 and will be using the number 33 instead. Austin Hill will be racing the 8 car.

RCR also mentioned that they will reserve the number 8 for Kyle's son Brexton if Brexton someday choose to pursue a NASCAR career.

There is new information. Kyle's family said he died of severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis.

I remember him as an announcer, but not as a driver. He was way before my time when he was racing. I did read he was a track promoter for Hickory speedway from 1968 to 1977.

I started following NASCAR in 1993 and I recalled his call at the end of the 1993 Daytona 500. Ned was one of the best NASCAR commentators of all time and was a great Ambassador.

He was one the great announcers for NASCAR races in the 90s. The 90s had him, Ken Squier, Benny Parsons, Buddy Baker and Bob Jenkins depending on what channel you watched.

As far as his death, I'm not a bit surprise. 93 years old is a long time for a person to live. I thought he had a long and great life.

RIP to one of the greats in NASCAR history.
