Well that was unexpected 😧😧😧

I've seen it and I don't think it was possible even 10 years ago to pull off at Martinsville. The closest to this I've watched was Carl Edwards at Kansas years ago, but didn't work out for Carl at the time.

I think the move Ross made due to the circumstances of a driver desperate want to make it to the final round and the car being able to handle riding the wall. I don't drivers attempt Ross's move every race after this due to the nature of it and why.

I think there will be a rapid rule change to stop this.

Ty Gibbs is not racing today in the 23 car fox 23XI Racing. His dad Coy Gibbs died in his sleep. Daniel Hemric is the replacement driver.

Coy Gibbs was the co-owner of Joe Gibbs Racing and was 49 years old. Coy Gibbs was Joe Gibbs son. What I know is Coy Gibbs was alive when his son Ty Gibbs won the Xfinity series championship yesterday.

Thoughts and prayers goes to the Gibbs family.

Ty Gibbs is racing in the 54 car for JGR in the cup series in 2023. The 18 car is not going to be used by JGR in the cup series in 2023. This is the first time in JGR cup series history that the 18 car never has been used.

The 18 car was JGR's 1st cup team starting with Dale Jarrett. The 18 car for JGR had 3 very good or legendary drivers JGR for the 18 team.

Dale Jarrett is best known at Robert Yates as a driver in his NASCAR Hall of Fame Career, but give JGR their first 2 cup wins in the cup series including the 1993 Daytona 500. Jarrett left since Ernie Irvan in 1994 suffered a life threatening head injury that forced Ernie to miss the final 11 races of the 1994 season and had a long read to recover. Jarrett left due to 28 car was a title contending car and JGR was building the team up.

Bobby Labonte is NASCAR Hall of Fame Driver. Bobby was one of the better drivers of the mid 90s to around the mid 2000s. We all know Kyle Busch is an active legend in NASCAR

Cole Custer is being replaced by Ryan Preece in the cup series for the Stewart-Haas 41 car. Cole Custer is going back down to the Xfinity series.

What happened where is a Rumor that I read last month actually happened and also Tony Stewart got his way. Gene Haas wanted Cole in cup next year, but Stewart did not. Stewart wanted Cole Custer out of the cup car due to underperforming in the cup series despite 3 full cup seasons as a driver. Cole Custer's problem was he had1 win, 2 top 5's, and 7 top 10's as a rookie cup driver, but only had 5 top 10's in the next 2 cup seasons combined along with 0 top 5s.

The argument between the 2 co owners was caused by Cole Custer's dad being the co president Stewart-Haas Racing. The dad felt his son should stay in the 41 car for another season.

Stewart-Haas is keeping Cole due to who Cole's dad is and is banking Cole getting better in the Xfinity Series, so he might replace a current Stewart-Haas driver in the cup series in the future. The deal is Cole had 7 Xfinity series wins in 2019 and was promoted to cup series in 2020. Stewart-Haas is also looking at Cole is only 24 years old right now, and cup usually hit their peak years at an older age.

I did find out some information to keep an eye on in 2023. Fedex's JGR contract is up after 2023 season and Fedex back in September mentioned they want to cut over 2 billion dollars in costs. I'm guessing they are not going back to JGR and Also Denny contract with JGR is also up after 2023 season.

It has been announced Kevin Harvick is retiring after the 2023 season. I am not surprised. This was rumored going into the off season.

I also looked at Kevin turned 47 last month and it would make sense with him retiring. Kevin has nothing left to prove as a driver. He's one of the greatest drivers of his generation.

It was announced that Kyle Larson is going to compete in the 2024 Indy 500. The entry is going to be co-owned by Rick Hendrick and Arrow Mclaren.

For those who don't follow Indy Car, Arrow Mclaren has good equipment in Indycar. Patricio O'Ward won 2 races for Arrow Mclaren in 2021 and another 2 races in 2022 for them.
