PPG renews Sponsorship with team Penske. This sponsor has been with Penske since 1984.

This effects Penske's indycar, Xfinity and cup series programs. PPG will sponsoring Austin Cindric for 2 races in the Xfinity Series with them being Atlanta and Mid Ohio. They will be Sponsoring Keselowski for 2 races, with them being spring Martinsville race and June Michigan Race.

NASCAR signs Verizon to upgrade wireless at 12 tracks for the next 3 years. The 12 tracks are Auto Club Speedway, Chicagoland, Darlington, Daytona, Homestead-Miami, Kansas, Martinsville, Michigan, Phoenix Raceway, Richmond, Talladega, and Watkins Glen.

NASCAR and the cup teams have announced the extension of the charter agreement through 2024.

NASCAR has announced that they are now revealing the purse money public for each cup race, but will not reveal the amount of money the drivers gets from that race.

It was announced that this years Daytona 500 has a record $23.6 million dollar purse. This explains why Daniel Suarez was not happy missing the Daytona 500 since the team he is with does not have a charter.

Ugh--yesterday. Rain! Disappointing that the race stopped, and now has to continue at 4 PM today. What a letdown for the drivers, crews, fans, concessions people, etc. I also read that the security lines, to get in to the venue, were much slower than usual, due to the president's appearance. Some fans had to wait up to 3 hours to get through security. Reactions were mixed.

Still no word on Ryan Newman‘s condition. NASCAR said he was helped from the car and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

NASCAR made a statement. Ryan Newman is in serious condition, but not life threatening.

Ryan Newman is undergoing further evaluation and treatment.

Joe Gibbs issued an apology for the Denny Hamlin and the 11 team celebrating winning the Daytona 500 after the Ryan Newman wreck. He said did they did not know the severity of it.

Continued prayers for Ryan Newman's recovery. (Also heard this morning, that his roll cage had collapsed in the accident. It's a miracle he's alive.)

Per a Roush Fenway Racing statement at 3:50 PM today, they shared that Ryan is awake and talking with his family and doctors. He and his family appreciate the well wishes from the entire racing community.
